Bigno. i don't give a crap what Mara thinks or says. his buddies in NY did what they wanted to do. they screwed the Dallas Cowboys yet again.they took away the chance for the cowboys to play for the NFC championship.they flat out cheated. Jerry should be screaming and raising hell about this. but he's not.and it's sad.

That's crazy. The bigger game would have been the Cowboys back in Seattle for the title.
We beat them this year and the Romo fumble from the past would have been a much better bet to get fans more interested
than a gimpy Aron Rodgers.

Not players, but rabid Giants & Eagles fans have also been texting/emailing ... You guys got robbed.......

Yeah, some of them can be honest with themselves... some can't though.

Even the people who say it was the right call are saying the rule needs to be changed.

This is a cluster-you-know-what for the NFL.

Mara,Goodell and Dean Blandino, can all go to hell. and so can ESPN and all of the cowboys hating media. notice how fast the haters in the media moved on? it's as if this screw job never happen. wonder if ESPN is going to have Dez or Romo in the studio this weekend, telling folks how we got screwed, like they did with Stafford this past weekend? or FOX have Witten or Romo on like they did Reggie Bush. ESPN,FOX and the rest of the cowboys hating media can go to hell.

Maybe so. but if a rule change occurs that somehow benefits the Cowboys, then I don't care about his motivation.

Of course, what may happen is some other team's receiver will make a similar Dez catch on the Cowboys after the rule changes, the catch will be upheld, and Cowboys Nation will erupt again, arguing somehow that it shouldn't have been a catch. Shrug.

OK, what half we learned hear?

What we half learned is that the NFL and its rules half edged toward the hare splitting and the absurd. the fan want clear cut rules, pretty cheerleaders and affordable meade and popcorn. They fans dont ax for much just that a catch (a ball held for at least 1/4 of a second be a catch and once the knee is down, that is where the ball is spotted. It is not rocket seance.)
Also that any interference with the receiver is interfereance. Dont tell me that the defenders and receivers legs got tangled up. If a defender tangos his legs with the receiver that impedes the receiver. That is clear as good hootch made in Tyler Texas.
Mens if the NFL would hire me I would revamp the officiating and make it clear and thus enjoyable football for the average lout who lives for Sundays but not for Sundays with bad calls.

Agree. Watched Inside NFL , and they had Mike Carey on... he says right call, panel says right call, then later in the show they talk about needing to change rules....

They had Brandon Marshall on, and you could tell even he has been given " the word" on get this over with, and support the interpretation....

To me it's a catch if it didn't hit the ground first, and then isn't lost from the players possession..... In other words, I have it, and never lose it......

Under that simple version we have Dez catch it, and even though it flies up he never loses it....

And Cowboys fans want it changed for the same reason??? ;)

Im a cowboys fan. and i don't give a crap if they change iit or not. they stole the cowboys chance to go to the Super Bowl now.nothing can make up for that. guys like Witten and Romo may never get another shot. every year is different. screw the NFL and Screw Mara and Dean Blandino.

Both of those rules do need some clarity and simplification. Take the freaking judgement out it. If you catch and secure the ball and have full control (not bobbling it) with two feet in bounds, it should be a catch. If it pops out while going to the ground it's a fumble.

The ground can't cause a fumble

Yes, thank you, Mahoneybill. Simplicity. Clear cut. is that too much to ax from the NFL? When fans half to see a slowmoe 10 times and then indure a seminar on when a catch is not a catch, well that take all the fun out of a game. And let me ax you, Mahoneybill, when did the NFL become a mini-version of baseball with so many interruptions, huh? I will tell you, ever since Roger G. came to town. I hate him and I hate the rules that only some tortured rules setter can esplain or unerstand. if i sound mad it is becasue i am. Not mad like clinacal but mad as in "madder than a inmate whose pork chop half been taken away."

"tweaking" the rules is the problem........not the answer.

Go bury your head Mara.

IMO - Conjuring up new rules, to save face, is extortion. Period.

Calvin Johnson rule, Tom Brady rule, Roy Williams rule..............Seriously?

What about a incompetent Ref rule?[/quote]
Well they supposedly have an "incompetent ref" rule and it's called "official review". The problem with "official review", is that it is also incompetent.
