NFL investigating Patriots for deflating footballs

Payton got suspended for bounty gate, which doesnt give you an unfair advantage, what the Patriots have done is far worse in the spirit of the rules and the game.

I think being without Peyton hurt them a lot but that's me.

I'd say trying to hurt players is far worse than deflating balls or that SpyGate stuff but that's just MO.

I dont remember anyone getting hurt. and i dont think it was ever proven that the Saint players tried anything dirty to hurt anyone.

Something must have been proven for them to suspend him for a year...I don't remember really but how else could he have been suspended? Otherwise what would have prevented him from suing the league..they had to have had had some proof from somebody. But anyway the topic is deflated balls. Bill is a sly dog.

When SpyGate was covered up, I specifically cited that there is no reason for the Patriots to not cheat again if they know that the rewards of winning far outweigh the punishment of getting caught.

This is why I think I may only have about 8 more years of being a fan of this league. Goodell is an awful commissioner and can't see the forest for the trees. Eventually this stuff catches up to you and between the lies and the changes in the game the league becomes less fun to be a fan of.

Don't believe me? Just ask MLB fans.

They care. To many think they are asterisk superbowls.

NFL will be fine.... MLB is fine.

I think people see that the pats have a good chance in this Super Bowl.... So they want to finish it from jump street!

The New Orleans Saints bounty scandal, widely dubbed "Bountygate", was an incident in which members of the New Orleans Saints franchise of the NFL were accused of paying out bonuses, or "bounties", for injuring opposing team players. None of the hits in question were ever penalized or deemed illegal by in-game officials.

What got them in trouble was the attempted cover up by Payton and other coaches.

back to my point orginally, the league needs to revisit their rules about cheating in anyway to gain an unfair advantage. the punishment doesnt fit the crime, a team like NE doesnt care about a fine or a draft pick as long as they keep getting to the SB. and who knows what else they have been doing.

Everytime Belichick sneezes, the haters accuse him of cheating. The Patriots line up in a perfectly legal formation and run a perfectly legal play and they get accused of cheating.

So please forgive me if my instinctive reaction to more of the same is to have myself a nice chuckle and move on with my day.

Problem with that logic is their gameplan called for a ton of running plays against one of the worst run defenses in the league.

I am not a closet Pats fan, I am a proud Pats fan and have never denied it. I spent large periods of my life in New England so I have no problem admitting they are a team I root for except for once every 4 years when they play Dallas.

Even though fans of both teams refuse to admit, these 2 franchises are similar in a great many ways. And the fans are pretty similar too. Believe me, I spend as much time in Patriots forums just like this one defending Dallas as I do here so this is nothing new.
