All of the news reports have said Goodell was going to hear Brady's appeal on Thursday, but on "NFL Live" last night Shefter said it won't be heard until after Hardy's appeal at the end of the month. So, there's something going on there, too.

There have been conflicting reports on Brady's appeal timeline. Listening to SIRIUS XM NFL radio, they were saying the NFL had 10 days to hear his appeal ( I'm pretty sure I didn't misunderstand what they said) which struck me as strange since Hardy's appeal was filed well before Brady's but wouldn't be heard until after Brady's. Can anyone shed light on this?

Does this mean Brady drops his appeal too? That would be nice.

Breaking news on ESPN.

I'm not sure this means a reduced Brady penalty. Now you have the league that has said Brady cheated and his team is no longer fighting it. How can the league reduce the penalty on the cheater? I think it's more likely that other owners convinced Kraft this was best for everyone just like when Jones and Snyder didn't sue. The next time an owner sues the league, everyone knows the golden goose is at risk. It's also possible that Wells suppressed info that the league didn't want out but would come out in court. Not saying it will happen but I will not be surprised if Brady follows suit within 72 hours. He will need more convincing because it's his personal reputation on the line but he really has no way to salvage that now that the team has abandoned the fight. There is no way the league dismisses his suspension and clears his name so he might get a game or two reduction but that will still leave him as a cheater.

Big topic and apparently we can't discuss it too long.

Now the hypothetical about AP that we could discuss for days on end without any real news, or merit, but this is different.

Threads get shut down a little to quickly around these parts anymore anyway so I guess that's just how it goes now days.

Why are these threads being closed?

The only one that has been closed, to my knowledge is the "Roger Goodell Has No Credibility Left" thread and it was closed because the premise of the thread no longer existed. Are there others?

What are ya'll talking about? The first Pats thread was always in the NFL Zone. All subsequent threads that were posted in the Fan Zone have simply been merged. There's been nothing to stop you from discussing the topic here in this thread

I don't see how Goodell's credibility has changed since yesterday. The lack of evidence hasn't changed in Deflategate and no one has argued about the power of his office, which is clearly considerable.

Well with Kraft giving up the fight, some will say he's a saint, some a sinner.
I believe he found out that some of his people lied to him and Wells.

The two threads directly below this one are closed.

Then you should ask the mod that closed it directly.. *****ing about threads being closed in a thread that's open doesn't really make sense to me.

I hope they fight Brady all the way through the Court system to uphold the four game suspension. Punishing the Pats, but then allowing Brady to get off easy would be ridiculous.

Well, I was just going by the thread being about Goodell having no credibility because he would give in to Kraft. Once Kraft came out and said that he would not seek a reduction in penalties, the premise of the thread became moot and the thread was, therefore, closed. That's all I was saying...not arguing the merits of either side.

That's my point. How can you now reduce the penalty on the cheater? His team is no longer fighting it and there is no new evidence that we know of. If anything was going to be reduced by Goodell, it was the team penalties.

lol.

Okay. Yeah suppose that it could be done that way. Of course it's just as easy to ask here and have it answered once, for anyone who might be wondering, as opposed to having multiple PMs asking the same question.

Oh and closing threads for no reason clearly didn't make sense to a couple of people. I didn't see anyone really *****ing, more so asking why and commenting, but clearly this struck a nerve. So I'm not going to say anything more about this particular topic with you. Good day.

No, you didn't strike a nerve, but two individuals posted virtually the same complaint. Call it what you want, but openly questioning why MODs do stuff is a rule violation, so it's just easier to call it *****ing and letting it ride than to hand out benchings over something relatively minor.

Point is, as long as this site has been around, it is the preferred method of the staff that members send PMs to staff members rather than to post it in the thread. Posting it just invites all sorts of other stuff.

Now that you know, you have a good day, as well, sir.

@BartHubbuch: I asked Jim Irsay if he had a response to Kraft accepting the penalty: "No. No, I don't."

What's Jim Irsay supposed to say? He'd be the last owner who I would think would have any opinion after his DUI and the discovery of his rampant narcotic abuse.
