Video: Blandino tells officials only the Dallas coaches don't understand the catch rule

Of all the BS calls I've seen, the only one that makes me angrier is the non-PI call on Deion vs #88 in the end zone in the 94 NFCCG.

Blamdumbo will never admit that that Dallas Cowboys got hosed with one of the most atrocious reversals in the history of the game. He and his mob bosses must have had a whole lot of money riding on the game.

But at least there was an excuse for that call, Deion was smart enough to do it when the official was screened from viewing it and we didn't have instant replay at the time.

The Dez catch was purely a matter of the league giving a political answer to yes or no question.

Actually, I think the Dez catch reversal was the NFL's attempt to "make right" the non-pass interference call on linebacker Anthony Hitchins the week before against the Lions. Two wrongs make a right in Blandino's world.

However, few recall the Lions were still winning at the time and still had several chances to stop the Cowboys or score. They did not. Against Green Bay, it was Dallas that was behind. Even though four minutes remained, we were all robbed of seeing what would have happened if the Cowboys took the lead in that game.

That's it, he's banned from the bus.

I think you're right. The problem is it's an atrocious rationalization, which is unsurprising since it comes from Blandumbo, because of two reasons. 1) You should never care what the fan reaction is. A ref's job is to call the game as fairly as possible. Mistakes happen, but no amount of "fixing" in a game after the fact will correct a mistake in a previous game. 2) The plays in the Detroit and the Green Bay game aren't remotely comparable. In the Detroit game, both players were at least equally guilty of infractions, and this has already been discussed her ad nauseam to evidence this fact. Dez's play was a fantastic individual play that was called correctly on the field and overturned without a shred of conclusive evidence. Zilch. Nada.

And like you said, the thing that is most egregious is the reffing took it out of the hands of the players in the Green Bay game. The game is about players making plays and Tony and Dez did that and they got it "voided" because Blandumbo had to overrule an obvious catch because of some bogus and unjustified interpretation of a rule that was specious then and is still specious now. Heck, the Cowboys still weren't even guaranteed to score a TD even if Dez's catch wasn't overturned. Murray could have fumbled or anything could have happened. And even if the Cowboys did score, like in the Detroit game, it wasn't over and Green Bay still had plenty of opportunity to score a TD, or the Cowboys could have stopped them, but we'll never know because of Blandumbo.

if there wasn't an issue about it being understood, then they would have gotten it right to begin with, not have had to overturn it.

outside this - give it some time. they'll change the rule again for whatever them happy. his dig seems to make this personal which i'd rather not see out of *ANY* ref.

This has been my gripe all along. Side judge Terry Brown ruled that he had possesion and made a football move before the ball came out.

The officals had been instructed prior to the 2014 season to let the ruling on the field stand unless the replay showed irrefutable evidence to the contrary. Dean Blandino had no right to overturn the call on the field from an office in New York when the"football move" was clearly a judgement call. This issue seems to be swept under the carpet in this whole scenario and I really wish someone would ask Blandino that question.

He joined the NFL's officiating department in 1994 as an intern, working under Jerry Seeman, the longtime head of officials.

At the very least, the average nursing graduate alone can identify the location of the gallbladder, explain the organ's function within the body, etc. What's Blandino's excuse for continually flunking Refereeing 101?

But he didn't have "indisputable" evidence on the Cobb "catch". However, he did have indisputable evidence that Dez didn't make a football move to complete the catch process.
You simply can't make this **** up.

And as per usual Blandino opens I mouth and shows the world how clueless and stupid he really is.

That is the exact stance I have always taken on this. Nobody in the press is has ever asked the right question. I sure wish someone would, but I think the train has left the station on that one.
