Oh I'm aware..just didn't know if the 'rule' could have been interpreted that way back then. Couldn't imagine being a Raider fan and having to endure that bs
Well, we have the Dez Bryant no catch situation. Just as much of a screw job.

While agreed, I gave us zero chance of stopping them on the next drive. My only hope was they scored so fast Tony had a couple minutes to go back and score

lol. Danny played when the defenses meant business and played to knock the QB's out of games. White took his clubs to 3 straight Conference Championship games with an aging defense and a HC that had lost a couple steps. White was a pocket passer that could read a defense and make a decision. Tony would have been run out of the NFL in a couple of seasons if he had to face those old defenses. Romo is not in the same class as Danny White.
Your hatred of Romo is pathetic. Did you catch him with your wife or did he not sign an autograph?

Romo got hurt by our poor front office, if he had been on the pats they would have 5+ championships

Did Romo ever play on a team with a legit defense?

He always had a great WR and Witten but that's it.

Poor OLines all throughout his career, a 2 man defense, and a guy calling plays and coaching the team that had no business being in the position he was in with this team.

Get out of here with that stuff. No need to lie about the facts.

2007 - He had 12 other teammates that went to the Pro bowl. Three of his five OL were voted in as starters. Jason Witten and Terrell Owens voted in, as starters. Marion Barber joined Romo in the offensive backfield.

DeMarcus Ware, Ken Hamlin, Greg Ellis, Terrence Newman were there from the defense.

Also had the starting punter as well, Nick Folk.

Its really close actually, but I would rather have Romo on his teams then put White on Romo's teams.

This, exactly. And I think this is how we should look at it as well. If you put Danny on Romo's teams, he is not going to three NFC Championship games. And if you put Romo on that 1980 team, they beat the Eagles and go to the Super Bowl against Oakland.

Is this a serious question?

Talent/skill wise, Tony is the best QB this franchise has ever had
Tony didnt have half the skill of Aikman or Staubach, Aikman had injuries ruin him but thats almost funny to say he had better talent and skill Tony .Romo is a glorified Ryan Fitzpatric, other than a bunch of bs stats from slinging it all day trying to overcome deficits and winning every other road game against the giants, what the hell has tony really won? I remember like 5 good games tyat might have mattered, Alex Smith has done way more lol and he sux too.
He can throw a pretty ball but is factually one of the greatest chokers ive ever seen, good riddance pudgy fraud

Haven't read the whole thread, but I hope I'm not the first to say Don Meredith. The Cowboys have had 2 or 3 MVPs and Dandy Don was one of them. None of my parents' generation, who watched both play, would have taken White over Meredith.

Troy Aikman? The same Troy Aikman that said Romo was better than he ever was?

You pointed out 1 team.

2007 was a pretty good team and I wouldn't call it his fault that we didn't do more with it.

He didn't play 1 year of football though. Im not saying he never played on a good team. He consistently never played on teams that could defend at a high level and half the time they couldn't protect him with a playcaller that was awful.

Anyone that thinks Tony Romo is a better athlete than Roger is out of their minds.
Or maybe they're just not a blatant, nostalgic homer. Let's just pretend that Tony wasn't all-state in high school basketball and a scratch golfer while we're at it. There isn't any evidence to suggest that Roger was better at anything than Tony except for scraping paint off ships (and vice versa). They played completely different games.

White, i love Romo but you lived and died by the interception. That will be the begining and end of Romos legacy, the interception that will come.
Do you realize that White had 123 interceptions in his eight seasons as undisputed starter? Romo had 117 in 10 such seasons. White averaged more than 15 picks a season. Romo averaged 11.7. You can come up with reasons why White was better than Romo, but it's not interceptions.

Yeah, being a "scratch" golfer means you're a top-flight athlete.

Talk about homer.

White lost his starting job because of a broken wrist and torn ligaments. It happened against the giants in 86. The Cowboys were off to a hot start at 6-2 and the offense was rolling. After White went down, it was all downhill for both the Boys and Landry. Anyway, to say that White only had the starting job because he was on good teams, and lost it because he was on a bad team is flat out wrong. White was good. Not great. But good. Better than Romo? It's impossible to answer that, as it is impossible to answer any question about players from different eras.
No, he was beaten out in camp by Gary Hogeboom one year. Landry went back to White later in the season.
