Imo Charlton is a LDE candidate.it's fine if we pick him and let Tank go next year but he doesn't have ideal attributes for a RDE.
No argument from me. That is why I am not that high on him.

He is okay, but he does scream LDE to me. Got enough bodies to do that.

4.8-4.9 unofficial 40, 7.12 3 cone, 4.44 20 yard shuttle, and 31" vert...more or less the same workout #'s as the combine.

Who knows, maybe he really does fall. Tape says he's a top 15 pick, but workout #'s say 2nd rounder at best. Should be interesting...
He was ill at the Combine and apparently has a strained hamstring but is toughing it out today. Bears watching.

I know there was just a thread about Peppers, but I don't think either side really made a good argument. I think this video (it's not me) does a great job of showing his abilities. If he's there at 28, I'd be running to the podium!

I would love to have him on the team and he was an exciting college player; however, in Dallas he would play the Barry Church position. I don't know if the Cowboys value that position enough to use a 1st round pick on it.

I often though last season, that it would be great if Church was replaced with a guy that could hold up in man coverage on TEs better than Church. That would give the defense more flexibility. When they forced the issue of having Bryon Jones cover TEs, that alignment made the defense more predictable.

My guess is he knew his time wasn't improving so his agent floated the hamstring issue before so he could look like a guy "toughing it out" instead of a slow DE. I don't care about his 40 time, you don't have to sprint 40 yards to get a QB. Terrell Suggs is all you need to know about 40 times for pass rushers.

“It’s a great honor, and well-deserved. You talk about versatility at a very high level, that’s Jabrill Peppers,” Harbaugh said. “We played him at safety, corner, linebacker, kick returner, punt returner, quarterback, running back, wide receiver, slot receiver, gunner on the punt team – he can play everywhere. He’s an amazing talent

The question of what position Peppers is best suited to play in the NFL was on the mind of media and the league’s 32 teams at the combine. Harbaugh knows his answer.

“Safety. He’s a heck of a good safety,” Harbaugh said. “He’s got the ability to cover. He’s got the ability to rush, he’s got the ability to blitz and take guys and put them down to the ground. He’s a tremendous tackler. Probably the best tackler in college football.”

To echo several others, that was a really good video. As someone who hasn't played organized football since pee-wee days (in my case, back in the 12th century), the breakdowns were really clear and instructive. The x's and o's covered were great for an admitted Joe Fan neanderthal.

It may be moot...it does sound like not much chance he gets to us.

High praise. But I kinda feel like he'd say anything to get his players drafted high.

I think it's pointless to discuss.

I feel like Peppers is one of those wildcards. Someone in the top 15 will love him and take him--perhaps even above Hooker

you aren't wrong however actions speak louder than words and his actions show that he trusted a 200 pound guy to handle linebacker duty at a top football program, and trusted him just about everywhere else.

How does Peppers compare to Roy Williams if at all?

More comparable to Darren Woodson since he could play SS and slot corner. Better overall athlete than Woodson, but Woodson had a bigger frame.

I wouldn't have a problem at all with picking him and I'm surprised Kollmann had to go back and re-chart him. Anybody with cursory knowledge of football could see that Wolverines had major issues at linebacker and that's why they moved Peppers there. From there, it was always easy to see that his job was to 'protect the edge.' Some of the other analysis by Kollmann was excellent.

The only thing that concerns me is his ability in zone. Wilcox was solid in man coverage, but clueless in zone. Just didn't have a feel for it. That forced us into Man-Cover 1 which was a disaster.

Linebacker zone coverage is far different than SS zone coverage. Little more unfair at times.

Anyway, I doubt he's available when we pick.
