Drafting a QB in the first 3 rounds would be irresponsible. Therefore, I expect we will do it. Its a shame we will have to dig through the scraps in the bottom rounds to get need players OT,OG, DT, WR
No it wouldn't. Our qb is inaccurate and if you think about it how many franchise qbs are inaccurate? All the top tier qbs are accurate. I think accuracy for qbs is like body catching for wrs. I'm sure there will be outliers that will be studs but those are traits I wouldn't want personally in my major picks at those positions.

Sorry but he has just too much history off the field. Nothing outrageously bad but enough that it is easy to see that he is not able to handle adversity at all off the field. When he can't handle it he bails. Ask Kliff or the cops he tried to run from... It will happen again....

What's it going to be then, eh?

Hot rumor is that the Broncos are after him. Even asked to be able to coach him at the Senior Bowl.

I'm so disgusted with our current QB situation that I'd roll the dice on Mayfield unless he came across poor in the interview.
You would, but it is a pipe dream to suggest Dallas is giving up on Prescott any time soon. That is why I don't bother even looking at the QBs. No sense torturing myself.

I'm not trying to predict what will happen.

It’s officially draft season now that the team has lost any hope of the playoffs. That being said some idiot had to come in here and start a thread about the current Heisman holder and likely best QB to fall within our draft pick range. I am that idiot.

I loved Dak since the preseason last year, but he regressed so markedly I can’t pretend I think he’s still a sure thing anymore. I’m betting he gets another year to try and prove himself, but if Baker becomes Brees 2.0 this is an opportunity wasted we’ll regret for a long time.

I’ve watched every game Baker has played and he keeps impressing me. I’m also a biased Sooner so I may forgive the personality too easily. One thing that’s obvious is he works at the QB game and while that’s all we heard about Dak in the offseason the results put those reports in serious doubt.

How many here would be for taking a long look at Baker? I haven’t been around here much so for all I know this may be a topic so overdone it’s lost its value to amuse. Still like to see the thoughts on here.
If he or Lamar Jackson are on the board you can bet Dallas will get calls for a trade.

Personally I can't stand Mayfield. However, that said I have no idea if he will be good in the pros or not. He very well could be great and has the college tape to support that thought. My biggest hurdle to believing that however is the history of OU QBs. They have been running the same or similar system since Stoops first year there and they've made every QB they've had look great. Heck they made Josh Hyple, Landry Jones, and Nate Hybl Heisman candidates, won the Heisman for Bradford and Jason White and yet not one of them turned out to be NFL QBs worth anything. Bradford was the only one that resembled anything of a NFL QB.

True enough about the OU QBs. However, I think the reason Jason White didn't turn out to be a NFL QB is because of his knees. He had surgery on both of them and lost the mobility he had before. If not for that, I think he had a chance to turn out good. That's just my opinion though.

Here is a Name i want everyone to keep an Eye on "Bryan Schor" He's going to be the next big Div 1AA QB to come in to NFL and Make it. He reminds me of Grappolo but has the Moxie of Romo, Probably won't get drafted until late or be PFA.. Buts he's got Enough of a NFL arm, Accurate, can mentally pick apart a defense and knows where to put the football on most route i've seen him throw *Back Shoulder, Fade, inside slant with LB bearing down on WR*

I agree on Bryan Schor. He has a chance to make a roster, and is an accurate passer and a leader.

The reality is that it takes a very special QB to be a player in this league. Go look at the current starting NFL QBs and tell me how many are from the same school? Not many if any. In fact, the schools that have produced the current batch of starting QBs is fairly diverse. Delaware, ND state, Fresno St, Oregon, Miss St....yada yada yada.

Of the OU QBs listed only 3 were drafted. Heupel, Jones and Bradford. The only one of the three that was a prototypical NFL QB was Bradford. Injuries have robbed him of his potential. But he did deserve the heisman.
Jones is a/and was always a career backup.

Mayfield will be fine I think. But who really knows until we see him on a team. His off the field stuff has been blown way out of proportion. Teams seemed to think highly of him after the combine.
