He was beating Dak out until he broke his ankle if not for that he would have started
That's definitely a rather odd twist to this bit of a pickle we seem to be collectively navigating thru, huh?
I mean #17 would've probably had to have flamed out in 8 straight games into the season or been carted off the field before #4 was sent forth, were it not for Kellen's season ending injury,,, actually it's kinda cool in a weirdly configured way,,,:lmao:

What are you talking about? By that definition, no position coach has authority. Fact is that he is integral to deploying the passing offense and has tremendous access and influence on the OC.
I'm curious if he's got an operating budget or expense account to help facilitate this " leap ahead" innovation a man of his caliber is bound to employ, as he doesn't strike me as that type of old school style of a coach like that dude in the wheelchair in that
" dodgeball' movie,huh Fuzzy?

I'm not sure if Moore is the guy for the job here. No doubt he has the smarts to be a coach, but I think Dak's got a pretty decent grasp of the mental side of the game. What he needs to improve his fundamentals in order to get the ball out on target. I would have been happier if we hired some mechanics guru.

Absolutely! How can Kellen fix Dak’s problems if he can’t throw himself.

And all this nonsense about the QB coach won’t actually coach the QB shows how stupid the staff is.

I’ve been as big a Garrett fan as they come but if this goes down he deserves to be fired next year unless Dak goes to a throwing guru on his own this spring

Dak didn’t regress mid season after a season and a half because of the continuing QB coaching he received.

You guys generally need a little better understanding of cause and effect. He regressed when his protection broke down and he was sacked 12 times in two games. As will happen.
He regressed all year!! Go watch NYG, Denver, StL and Green Bay. He missed so many open throws.

Moore may be a good qb coach. teaching is the name of the game. He is a young mind. With his lack of physical gifts he had to do something right to get as far as he got. What did Wade Wilson ever do? im willing to see what he can do. Its not like he is the OC. He may be a diamond in the rough , maybe not. We shall see.
Wade Wilson made the pro bowl with the Vikings in 1988

Mother earth is not going to implode because of this hiring I promise. Dak either has the talent or he does not. People act like only 1 person is going to be helping him. There is a reason why we are forum members and NFL coaches are getting payed guess what that reason is?

At it's core, this is just excuse making for another bizarre decision by this organization. It appears people are trying to diminish the importance of the QB coach because they know it's a peculiar hire, and frankly IMO, a very risky hire given the work Prescott needs. Prescott has talent but he's still raw and having a great guy in his ear like Romo had, would help him.

Instead, this front office, or more specifically the Jones', give Garrett whatever he wants with little pushback. As noted by Fuzzy, it's not an automatic failure but this move should warrant heavy skepticism.

They've invested the next 3-4 years of this franchise in Dak. Why in the world wouldn't you go out there and give him the best tools which would give him the best chance to succeed? Instead they gave the position to a guy who Garrett and Linehan think is swell and was a real gritty player for them.

I actually think Moore is going to be a good coach. But not here for Dak. How can Dak take coaching from a player who doesn't have the fundamentals, or couldn't even beat Dak out? It's just weird. It would be different if this was some veteran such as McCown or someone like that.
if they don't have the fundamentals, i have to wonder how their coaching would be. i was never a fan of "those who can't, teach". i've learned the most in my life from people who were good and passionate about what they do.

horrible move and just speaks to the overall coaching cesspool with the cowboys now.

It’s pretty much accepted as fact that 90% of being no an effective coach is intelligence, and has ZERO to do with athletic ability. NFL history is littered with examples of good coaches who were mediocre pro players, or in many cases, NEVER played a snap in the league (Belicek, Tomlin). There are a lot of examples of good to great layers who were awful coaches.

If Moore has what it takes between the ears, what he did on the field is irrelevant.

As I stated I think he's going to be a really good coach. But it's just weird since he's been here as the backup behind Dak. Had he played for another team and came here it would be different.

Maybe it's just me but I would prefer a new voice in the room with new and fresh ideas to challenge both Dak and Linny.

Terry Bradshaw said a couple of weeks ago the QB coach is the one of the most important positions in the organization. But why argue with someone who was the #1 pick, played poorly, and then went on to win 4 SB's?

I suspect the entire process was a sham. Garrett and Linehan wanted to give Moore the job the moment he talked about retiring. Any experienced coach they may have talked to was simply a dog and pony show.

This is basically the coaching version of Nick Hayden.

I don't know how much work the QB coach actually works with the QB. They were talking about this the other day on the Radio in regards to the Texans ( I live in Houston). During the season, O"Brien works with the QB the most they said, he is the one that really sets the tone and works on fundamentals with Watson (or any of the other 15 QB he has had in his 4 years). The QB coach is really used in meetings to help the QB break down the film and understand the D and on Game day doing pretty much the same thing. Not sure how it is set up in Dallas but I would guess pretty close to the same way.. it will be JG and or Scott working with Dak on fundamentals and the QB coach working with him on coverage, reads, breaking down film, etc. If that is the case, I think Moore will be fine. If I am not mistaken, the team doesn't work with players during the off season, so Dak will have to hire his own trainer to work stuff during the off season anyway. Not sure about that but I think that is right.

It's insane that the side of the ball with most of the talent has the most bizarre coaching situation. We need to turn into a defense first team
