Is Dez Bryant A Bust

I think most of Dez's decline is due to multiple lower body injuries since 2015. The foot injury he suffered in 2015 was similar injury that pretty much ended Hakeem Nicks' career. Nicks was a top WR in 2010-2011 and was even considered better than Dez around that time by some. After the injury in 2012, he declined quickly and was out of the league after 2015 season.

Bust is usually defined as never being good.

And I’d agree. He needs a different QB to thrive like with Romo. I’m not sure any of our receivers will consistently thrive with Dak.
I’m not sure any of our receivers will consistently thrive with this basic predictable offensive passing scheme. Beasley was basically shut down last year because the coaching staff never adjusted to how defenses played him in 2017. You want to blame Dak for Garrett’s Offensive passing scheme? You ever watch the way NE schemes to get mediocre receivers, like Amendola, open. Beasley is twice as quick as Amendola, but our coaches are not creative enough to use his strengths to get him open. Keep blaming Dak for this lame passing scheme if you want, but your wrong.

I am as big of a Dez basher as anyone here. Dez was not a bust in terms of drafting him. He had a productive first contract. He was a good draft pick even though he has always been a headache.

He has been a bust in terms of his second contract. It was a very poor second contract.

No, but he doesn't have an elite qb, to save him now.

He'd be a top three receiver if he had a decent coaching staff. I want to say Garrett sucks, but I won't!

This is so wrong on so many levels, he doesn't have speed, and he can't run routes, even if he could do one or the other better he isn't the player that would have both. This is the typical Cowboys fan over evaluating our talent.

It's silly to call him a bust. A dominant WR for a while. Certainly 2014.

But we did get burned on his contract in 2015. "Romo window" contract. Anyone would take that back if they could.

And we're still on that contract now. We should get out.

Why is it fans like running certain players out of town.........we did it DeMarcus Ware, DeMarco Murray and now Dez. Interesting each player was productive for their next team ( Murray not so much the Eagles but Titans ).

Beasley was effective in this offensive scheme until this year? What changed ?

And I’m not saying it’s all Daks fault.

Obviously Dak is more effective with Elliott and Dak runs this offense better with the lead than from behind. But defenses have figured out his weaknesses and are exploiting it.

He is a bust since he got paid.
Romo made L. R. Look all pro,
So maybe he made dez look
Better than he was, and now
With avg qb dez is avg to below avg.
Dez is another example of the genius of the Jones Boys GM
Abilities.

Part of the issue is Dez. He struggled running routes from the beginning and dropped balls.

In the NFL recievers don’t always look open you have to throw them open as the back shoulder fade has become a staple in the NFL. But that takes accuracy and timing downfield and chemistry with the reciever and QB.

Dez strength is yards after the catch and winning the battles in single coverage making plays on the ball. Double coverage usually illustrated while Dez had some elite ability wasn’t one of the best in the league getting separation.

I’d hate to lose Dez until we have someone else in similar talent and play making ability but he definitely needs to reconstruct his contract if he’s going to stay but I can understand if he wants to take his skills somewhere else which I think he could shine again with the right QB.

I’m pretty critical of Dez, but there were a run of seasons where he was top 3....top 5 no question.

I think he is done, but no way a bust. I’d draft him again in the mid/late 1st round for what he did.

In a different system, or maybe with a more polished passer he could have another season or two of top 15 production, but his days as ‘the target’ are over.

And that’s no a shot at Dak either. I’m confident he will improve.

Dez was a certified STUD before that huge contract a few years ago.

Since then, he has been a woefully overrated player.

A tale of two people....

Blame it on whatever else you want to blame it on but the performance drop since the ink dried is staggering.

Come on..I give Dez a lot of crap but really? How can a guy who leads a franchise in touchdown passes be a bust?

ran into this earlier today....seemed like an interesting topic to discuss.
FYI- I don't think he's a bust, but needs a different system and qb to thrive. It's worthy of discussion. Go cowboys

Is someone really dumb enough to hold the opinion that he is a bust? The guy had one of the greatest 5 year runs of any WR in the history of the sport.

His last 16 full games he has 890 yards and 8 TDs... that is a lot better than you represent

More like their first three years. If they don’t live up to expectations by then they’re a bust.

Oh yeah. I'm not saying he's not AS BAD as a bust. The dude's stealing money the past 2 years with his contract. He needs to take a payout or step up. Period.
