Yeah they sure played like his job was on the line against Los Angeles, oh wait.
Maybe they thought he was already safe by virtue of getting to the playoffs.

Throw away year? I sure hope that sort of thinking does not exist on the team.None of it matters. Next year is already a throw away year and everyone knows it. The entire coaching staff save maybe Richard is now in lame duck status. No one should be the least bit surprised when next season gets very ugly.
NE got Trent Brown, OT, from SF for a 3rd. Why are we not looking into those types of trades? W/ Tyron falling apart, would we have been better off trading for an OT than a WR?I’m neither hoping this happens nor predicting it will either...But what happens to Jason Garrett if the team gets off to another slow start in the 2019 season? Say, 2-4 or 3-5?
What happens to the mindset of the players, knowing their HC does not have another year on his contract, and the team struggles early out of the gate? Would this team quit on him knowing Jerry won’t re-up his once favorite adopted son with a mediocre or below season?
We all know this team will be playing a divisional champ schedule, which theoretically means there are less cupcakes on the schedule, although that’s never a guarantee either way. (Some years, it ends up not being as difficult- you just never know year to year) The pressure to win AND win early I think will be one of the bigger storylines as the 2019 season starts. And that’s a good thing. Garrett’s had too many chances IMO anyway.
If this team falters early again like they did last year, I think Jerry might make a change during the season. Maybe he goes with Richard as interim to see if the troops rally around him. Again, I’m not necessarily predicting this will happen, just pondering the “what if”.
One message I believe Jerry has sent that I like- I think he knows the clock is ticking for him and his ability to see another championship. The Amari Cooper trade and the Paul Alexander firing last year sent the message that Jerry wants to win NOW. I don’t think he has the right HC to win with, but maybe he’s finally fed up with the “wait til next year” slogans he’s thrown out for 23 years. Maybe...
What do you guys think?

I hope it does. Pathetically trying to compete when there was no way it was happening is one of the reasons we have been mostly irrelevant for 20+ years. That sort of thinking led to the pathetic trade for Matt Cassell, and was also responsible for the non trades of Choice, Jenkins, and MartyB, even though they were on the way out anyway.Throw away year? I sure hope that sort of thinking does not exist on the team.
The Cooper trade wasn't for the team; it was for the QB.NE got Trent Brown, OT, from SF for a 3rd. Why are we not looking into those types of trades? W/ Tyron falling apart, would we have been better off trading for an OT than a WR?
Maybe Cowboysdude is Kellen Moore. That would depend on whether Booger thinks he has what he thought he had with Phillips, a HC-in-waiting.
If this scenario Bullet describes comes to fruition and he doesn't fire Garrett until the end of the season, Richard is not the guy. And it would not be surprising that he would have a contingency plan ready to go with the guy they have targeted.
What I think happens is that Booger publicly states that Garrett has been here before and turned that team and deserves the chance to repeat that. That makes the Garrett fans happy, and believe it or not there are some, and the Garrettkeets don't really care, season is shot to hell anyway. Let's see a show of hands of the Garrettkeets that thought he would pull it out this season. Thought so.
And the saddest thing about all of this is that the greatest Garrettkeet of all time, #1Cowboysdude would not be here to bask in his glory. I would hope Booger would let him walk Garrett out of the building.
Hot sports opinion out of the gate...I like it! Although I don’t agree. If this team has another 3-5 start, I don’t think it’s out of the question Jerry may pull the guillotine lever.
Way to go Haze. My brain hurts, but I like it! I'll bite.I’m neither hoping this happens nor predicting it will either...But what happens to Jason Garrett if the team gets off to another slow start in the 2019 season? Say, 2-4 or 3-5?

GARRETT appeared to me like he had the pee in the most dire of distraughtness of which it entails type of manner for about half of that previously played PRO BOWL GAME,,,from what I'd seenIf we agree that the team plays hard for Garrett, and even the ardent Garrettkeets seem to agree with that, what would firing him and putting Rickard in do? Richard going to get in their faces and yell at them to get them to play better? If they're 3-5, need to look a little deeper than the HC. LOL, what if it's the OC and he was the Joneses call?
One thing I am pretty sure of, they will not quit on Garrett because he makes them believe in themselves and the team and he proved that this season. And we can give credit to whomever for Cooper but can we also not attribute that 3-5 to the lack of Cooper or a player of his caliber? I do not recall a WR having that kind of impact in mid season on any team before like that so some of the credit has to go to coaching for getting him acclimated and in tune with the QB.
I do not see Garrett getting fired during the season and am not sure if he actually gets fired, if he's not the HC any longer. Being a former HC is not a requirement to be in the front office.
And since Bullet brought this up, I do have a question. I don't know if it's me but did Garrett look like a happy man to be coaching to you? There were times he celebrated with the players but that's innate in a coach. I would watch him on the sideline, as I am an observer of people, and he looked miserable at times. And that wasn't just at the times they were not playing well. I really got the feeling that he'd rather be someplace else. There is a lot of stress associated with being the DC HC, if you're not winning.
1-3 preseason and hes gone!I’m neither hoping this happens nor predicting it will either...But what happens to Jason Garrett if the team gets off to another slow start in the 2019 season? Say, 2-4 or 3-5?

I can tolerate losing but not quitting.I hope it does. Pathetically trying to compete when there was no way it was happening is one of the reasons we have been mostly irrelevant for 20+ years. Fire him now and just get it over with. Be the first team with an interim coach before Free agency and the draft. lol

But it could be a blessing! If the Cowboys have a bad record they better freaking draft Trevor Lawrence! Then they can bring in Sean Payton and this team could be an immediate contender.None of it matters. Next year is already a throw away year and everyone knows it. The entire coaching staff save maybe Richard is now in lame duck status. No one should be the least bit surprised when next season gets very ugly.
And therewith lies the thrusting bloodied crux of quested kingdoms conquered,,,This is a small sample of what sets NE apart. Brady is great, but so is management and coaching. Driven to succeed even after all they’ve accomplished.
