Jerry/Stephen and Garrett are made for each other. Not an aggressive bone in their body. They lucked into Dak. And then wasted the window of his rookie contract. Had a chance to make a move this year. Wasted it. None of them will sniff a Super Bowl in their lifetimes.
How could anyone be surprised at this point by Jerry and his sidekick son? What pressure do they have to work harder to put a championship team together? Who is holding them accountable for the last two plus decades? Why should the Jones Cartel feel any need to work harder?

Yep, the Apologists are so desperate to justify their worldview that they now brag about balanced books, young rosters, TV ratings, and NFC East division "crowns" as benchmarks of success.

I’m actually looking forward to the “I told you so” threads that will come in 10 days or so when the Cowboys sign a couple of mediocre players that are “good value.”

Funny that these “spineless” guys were once widely criticized for being too agressive and throwing too much money around and making I’ll advised deals.

The reality is nothing about Jerry is spineless. It’s not always smart, and sometimes it’s not close to smart, but it isn’t spineless. He’s had to restrain his nature to prevent recklessly throwing money around and making those ill advised deals. And to a degree it’s worked. They’ve built a nice young nucleus almost completely through the draft. But in the process they became a bit too conservative and have become a bit blind to the fact there is a middle ground that isn’t reckless, but still takes advantage of oocassional opportunities outside the draft.

Yep. The next wave of Andrew Gachkar's, Benson Mayowa's, and Nolan Carrol's will definitely show us that this Front Office knows exactly what they are doing.

I mean, we once signed a guy off a CFL practice squad. Sure, he's in the Alliance now, but still, we are the cleverest Front Office ever.

Comments like these make me love the start of FA even more. Almost verbatim every year...

The FO just doesn't have balance of the force. Lol. Either they go nuts in FA and draft horribly or draft well and suck at FA. They need to figure out how to do both well consistently. Not grabbing a top tier FA every once in awhile to upgrade a key position is hamperative.

Likewise, overvaluing their own dudes when their contracts come due is another issue. Honestly I think it is OK to let a Super star walk if he is going to kill being able to add other parts. They let Murray go which was surprising at the time, kind of worked out.

The front office is not committing to any free agents long term with a lame duck coach . Garrett is out after next year if the team doesn't win?

Maybe Stephen

But give me a damn break....saying Jerry freaking Jones doesn't have an aggressive bone in his body.

For years and years Jerry was accused of being the risk taking wildcatter.
The guy who made bold and sometimes stupidly aggressive moves. Always making the splash
One of the true wildcatters among owners and made his fortune taking risks that many on this board would piss their pants over.

Jones has taken big risks his whole life.

Not an aggressive bone in his body?
Get the helloutta here.

Now Stephen and Jason? Yes, the both seem more risk averse

Every single year, some Cowboys “fans” get all riled up after the first few days of offseason signings.

Just crying and gnashing of teeth while bemoaning the Cowboys approach.

Every……single……year.

No seriously, every……single……year.

Benson Mayowa will be our most recognizable free agent acquisition this year. And we only recognize his name because he had a cup of coffee here a few years ago.

Stop trying to save 3 million and either sign Lawrence or trade him. Not being able to get other FAs because you can’t sign the guy you’ve negotiated with since last year shows you don’t know what you’re doing.

The team is starting to enable the Steelers chaos. You drafted guys that performed. Sign them and if it takes an extra 2-3 mil for pro bowl quality so be it.

No one is mad Beasley walked. But you have no DL to speak of right now and no conceivable plan to improve. This is about to be 2017 again. Having a let down because the FO wants to look like the smartest team in the league. Yes the Patriots can let every player walk because of Belichick and Brady. Dak is not anything close to Brady. You have pro bowl players. Lock them up and stop alienating the locker room!

We’ve seen the last 2-3 years when the team struggles TV ratings and crowds have started to fall. A new coach can only fix so much. People may hate Garrett but this is the FOs fault if the only improvements they make are 2nd and 3rd round players.
