Just because a team was dumb enough to do that...doesn't mean we should be just as dumb....and so the same thing.
Intelligently speaking; the market says that Kurt Cousins contract is where the conversation begins at a minimum. Why? Because Dak is clearly a better QB and football player.

sign Dak to 30..gonna lose either
Amari- who wants 16+ OBJ $
Jaylon Smith after next year

Or Zeke
Cant pay everyone

Dak should take 25 a year and be happy...

With Collins and Crawford likely off the books next year, I don’t think we’ll have too much difficulty keeping everyone. We can sign our QB long-term and still be able to work around the cap, it happens in the league all the time.

I agree. We’ll have 80 million in cap as of now but they add to the cap every year so it’ll increase. I feel they’ll make it work. Now will we win a super bowl with everyone under contract who’s up soon? Time will tell

The regret will start the minute he puts ink to paper. Book it. It will be the biggest mistake in Jerry's career. Sadly...fans will have to suffer through yet another Jerry Jones bufoonery @ QB.

You would think after all these years....Jerry would get it. You get what you pay for @ the QB position. The Quincy Carter debacle....Drew Henson. A hope and a prayer..w/ Bledsoe..Ryan Leaf....Hutchinson. An undrafted QB in Romo...throwing 4th round hailmary's @ Dak.

Yet in Jerry's world...he thinks by throwing money @ a guy...it's going to make him legit. Doesn't work that way.

All this contract is going to do is hamstring this franchise for years to come. You won't be able to trade him. You won't be able to cut him. Your going to have to let good players walk because you can't afford to keep everybody.

It's just insanity....of the Al Davis type. :(
DUDE, you were touting Kellen Freaking Moore back in the day so your opinion is of very little value....

I honestly don't care if he made 30 or 50m, we all knew that this was the road that the team was going to take the minute he took the job from Tony. What I was trying to get across was that players won't call you out when you're making 400k, but you will damn sure get more than grumbles if you stink it up while making 30mil, market price or not. That's not my opinion only, but the opinion of a hall of fame TE. Do you think that Dak would have got a pass from his teammates if he had 0 passing td's, 5 interceptions, 14 sacks, a pick six and a fumble for a td in 12 1/2 quarters while making 30mil? Market price or no market price.

I'm sorry but makes no sense at all. This may surprise you but unlike fans, teammates are usually 110% supported of their teammate through rough times. Money has ZERO to do with it. Good lord dude, imagine the kind of locker room you'd have if all players worry about what their teammates are making or if they deserved X amount $$$$$.

Please explain.........

Sure. Was anyone competing with Dak for the QB position? Even after the TD drought that broke the Cowboys record for mediocrity, Ole' Jerrah was still singing the praises of Dak to anyone who would listen. After the unnecessary sacks, the piss poor footwork, the deer in the headlights look, the horrible accuracy issues, Jerry was still proclaiming him as the leader of the team. Ergo, he didn't earn it, it was given to him.[/QUOTE]

:huh:So...........his teammates and coaches are wrong for voting him captain and praising his leadership coz it was actually manufactured by Ole'Jerrah? No need to spend a lot time on this but I can honestly say you're the first poster I seen question Dak's leadership. I've seen his strong critics micro him to pieces but even they've given him credit for leadership. Maybe you're misunderstanding what you hear, see and truly believe. It can get confusing sometimes.........lol

Though challenging, Cowboys confident about signing Zeke, Dak, Amari
https://profootballtalk.nbcsports.c...wboys-confident-about-signing-zeke-dak-amari/

Prescott, a fourth-round pick, has made more off the field than he has in his NFL contract thus far.

“Obviously, I feel very good that we’re going easily work through – when I say easily, that’s a bad word to use – but we’re going to strategically work through getting guys like Dak and Amari and Zeke done,” Jones said. “I think we can still do others. It’s not like we’re going not be able to get that accomplished. But at the same time, as I told DeMarcus Lawrence — and I’ll tell all three of these guys – I’d love for you to max out and give you exactly what you want, because y’all have worked hard and you deserve to have a big contract, but if we want to put together the type of team we want to have with the Cowboys [then there has to be some give and take]. That’s not their job. It’s not their job to manage the cap. I understand that. But it is my job and Jerry [Jones’] job, so they will understand why we’re negotiating hard to make the very best deal we can, because the money, if we can talk them into not maxing out – doing well, but not maxed – then that allows us to have other good football players around them.

“We all know what happens. You look at the TV booths, and you look at what these players do off the field. If we can put Super Bowl rings on these guys, then they’ll be legends around this area for many, many, many years to come. What they give up a little bit in their contract, they should be able to invest in being a Cowboy and making our teams better. Now, we’ve got to go get the job done as an organization, which means winning Super Bowls and doing great things on the field.”

I'm quite confident that they'll work it out! Dak wants his due and Dallas will see fit to dicker 'til both sides agree. Just business as usual. ;)

Well, a deal will guarantee he is the starter for 2 full seasons no matter how terrible he plays (if he were to play terrible).

we still have Zeke for 2 more years. 2019, 2020(5th year team option), and THEN if we wanted to, we can tag him and have him for a 3rd year. No real reason to do a Zeke deal now..NONE.

If we don’t, then HE will feel dissed, and put in a poor effort. Maybe become a problem child.
