Im all in on Darren Lee. As a back up plan for Sean Lee and as a depth guy. Dude can shut down TEs esspecially fast ones.

SEAN is about to start again and thats scary. Its better to prepare then not. DARRON Lee could knock Covington or Thomas off this roster easily. And Darron Lee is close friends with Zeke

Yeah, maybe I'm dreaming, but he is an effective player that produced 5.5 sacks last year and is strong in run support. Are you thinking that if he did get cut, no one would pick him up? I can see maybe not getting a high pick if teams think he might get released, so why pay for him with a pick. But if he was released, are you saying his career is done?
He won't even get signed. He's a legend in his own mind. 5.5 sacks was a career high lol.

There's more to consider than the oversimplification of Jaylen Jelks you're trying to make it appear to be.

I'll list the names and then let you decide who stays and who goes:

  1. Lawrence
  2. Maliek Collins
  3. Woods
  4. Robert Quinn
  5. Taco
  6. Hill
  7. Covington
  8. Armstrong
  9. Hyder
  10. Joe Jackson
  11. Jelks
  12. Crawford
  13. Gregory (pending suspension)
Find at least three guys on that list you're comfortable cutting to keep Crawford. Or punt the question because it's too tough to actually answer. Who gets forced off the roster so you can "fit him in"?
I'm not a Crawford fan or apologist but it's pretty easy to come up with 3 considering 2 has never took a NFL snap and were late round picks.

Give me 7,9,10, and 11 Alex for $200. I could add 5 but he's only in his 2nd year so I'll keep him. But if you told me I could only keep one then add him to that group. I would add 13 but jj is in love with him and he's not going anywhere.

1,2,3,4 and 6 are the only one's who id for sure keep over Crawford. With 8 being a tuff one. Now I think about it, 2 might not make that list . Availability is the best ability. But 2 upside is why i keep him on the list

Worthless response.

And clearly dodging answering the question. Exactly as I said would happen. Thanks very much for proving me absolutely right.

Proving you right? Was the question whether you would be laughed at for listing Crawford 12th on our depth chart?

You theory/concept/flatulence that Crawford is outside the roster looking in is completely made up. If you want to be taken seriously, please quote one person around the NFL that Crawford is behind Jelks, Jackson and Hyder on the depth chart.

I'll wait.

I would keep the first 8 guys on that list over Crawford but Covington is still a wildcard moving to the 1T. We tried a similar move with Cedric Thornton with big money and it was a disaster.

We have a lot of guys with upside, but the idea that a 7th round pick is someone a lock to make the roster over Crawford is David Irving Land.

So you're good with cutting both before you ever see them play in an NFL game? Kind of makes them wasted draft picks then, doesn't it?

Give me 7,9,10, and 11 Alex for $200. I could add 5 but he's only in his 2nd year so I'll keep him. But if you told me I could only keep one then add him to that group. I would add 13 but jj is in love with him and he's not going anywhere.

So both Covington and Hyder are also cut before they ever play a snap during the regular season? To keep a guy that will ultimately cost you 10 times as much? OK...

And "upside" is a key for me, as is cost. The young players might have upside that Crawford doesn't at this point. And cost is the part that fans don't want to mention, because Crawford will lose there every time.

Answer the question you keep avoiding before you ask one. The one I accurately predicted that you would want no part of.

I answered it by mocking the premise, calling it comical and a flatulent emission.

I will try again.

My exact answer is what I posted in post #88 above, that I would put Crawford 8th on the depth chart if you assume Covington is what they think he is at 1T (which is far from certain).

I am as happy as a woodpecker on a balsa wood post!
This is great stuff guys!
Funniest thing is the guy bashing Crawford for not being a starter then saying being a starter isn’t the point when people bring up snap count lol.

Stasheroo: He’s not a starter though!

Logic and reasoning: Well he got the 2nd most snaps last year, so regardless of where his name is typed dude plays starter snaps.

Stasheroo: Why are you hung up on the starter thing!

Logic and Reasoning: Well what’s the issue then?

Stasheroo: We shouldn't be paying a non-starter starter money!

Logic and Reasoning: Dude

Your attempt at misrepresenting his point is sad.

Not too often a poster just gets absolutely destroyed by multiple posters to the severity Stash has in this thread.

Putting up the yellow tape because this is a murder scene.

I see at least two players the Cowboys would pounce on if they are released:

Realistically, I could see DAL trading for S Joseph, and LB Lee if an injury occurs or they don't feel confident in a certain player.

Adding Joseph n Lee could give this defense a boost in the depth department, and both could actually start if things go there way.

I liked DT Butler coming out of college, but I question if he fits Marinelli's scheme.

I like list, haha.

I think they will keep 10.
I see the top 8 + (1)Crawford as locks.
Hyder, Jackson n Jelks battle for 1 spot.
