Everybody's the product of their era. Even Staubach benefitted from rules changes, his stats blew up the second they made the first big rule changes to open up the passing game in the late 70s. You think Aikman didn't benefit from passing rules being easier still than they were in Staubach's time? This era also has big DISADVANTAGES for would-be dynasties. Free agency and the cap mean it's basically impossible for teams to hoard talent like you could in the 70s or even the early-mid 90s, yet Brady has been the linchpin of a double dynasty anyway.

Ultimately people have to be judged on what they ACTUALLY DID, not what we think they coulda-shoulda-woulda done or not done.

They've tried (LOL)........plucking Belichick coaches, GMs, and/or back-up QBs. What's interesting, his former assistant coaches or coaches from his tree have one of worst combine records of any NFL current/former coaches. Other words, there's only ONE Brady and ONE Belichick and you can't duplicate either.....lol

Ranking doesn't distinguish salary, it doesn't matter at all what fans "think."

Then why post "especially when it's proven he needs players to elevate his play" ?

Dak needs strong, players around him to be able to "drive the bus"....there is nothing wrong with that. everyone thinks being a bus driver is a bad thing. Dak has the ability to limit his mistakes, not take risks, manage the game and help the team to victory. for that he needs a strong supporting cast. the challenge for the cowboys is if they pay him $35 mill a year, can they sign Cooper? then we will hear all the cries, that he doesn't have a #1 WR...can they extend Martin, Fredrick? or Zeke and all we will hear is we have no running game, OL sucks....

How is Prescott supposed to "elevate" the defense into NOT allowing 275 rushing yards? "Elevating players" is misused phrase. Prove he doesn't elevate players?
I think Dak is a middle of the road QB, but he definitely elevates surrounding players or he would have no success.

Why do you see this as my problem? Why do you assume that I am unaware of how the NFL works? Why do you think that I have to assume that Jimmy Garoppolo or Kirk Cousins is relevant to what is happening in Dallas? I understand that NFL teams make decision based on things that are not sound but why do you assume that I somehow don't understand just because I can see that making decision based on desperation or "inflation" is stupid?

I am not talking about the defense. just the offense, you noticed I said OL, WR and RB!? but go ahead and be sensitive....

and while we are on the subject, lets not forget Dak had 160 yards going to the 4th quarter. having total of 10 minutes of offensive possession in the first half...yeah yeah yeah, you are going to say because Rams were running the ball, blah blah blah....but in the first half we had 4 possessions, they had 4....three possessions we had 2,1,2.5 minutes of ball control. that's not defenses fault. one possession was 55 seconds..... 55 freaking seconds...is that on defense?

come on dude....

and if he could elevate players around him, like some of the elite's you keep comparing him to...we wouldn't have a pathetic offense when zeke was out and score less than 3 points...we wouldnt' have a pathetic offense and be 3-5 until we gave him a top 5 WR. to this point, when he has strong/elite talent around him he has been able to win. without the elite talent around him, he has been below average.

Seriously though, QBs don't carry the team without legit talent around them. That's how teams work. You're just unwilling to accept that.

I don't disagree.....but that's why there is Rodgers and Brady and Brees. I mean Brady had eddleman...I mean freaking eddleman….and they won the superbowl...somehow the WRs that leave packers somehow never are mentioned again. (I hope this doesn't happen to cobb)…..

so I am probably sick and tired of DakFanatics and their attitude of either you are 100% in love with Dak and find no faults...or you are hater.....just a little over the top.

the kid has some tools, he needs to improve his fundamentals to improve else he will be what he is which is middle of the pack QB.

Here's a question for those true diehard Dak fans.

Why are you so opposed to letting him play out the 2019 under his current deal? Why does he have to be signed NOW? Just to save a few million a year?

you hater you, (sarcasm) I do not understand that view either, in fact GMFB said its in the DC best interests to wait the year and see where he is. It's a no lose for the Cowboys to let him play the final years out and prove it. Knowing Jerry I wouldn't doubt just about HOF game time the big signing comes, guess I'm a hater too for wanting to wait as I do not see a need to sign him at this point like the Dak idolizers do.
