Lets say the Cowboys make the NFC championship game or SB or win SB after that JG is a free agent. I kinda wonder if maybe he says enough of this bs with Jerry and Stephen I want my own team and takes a deal with another team. I could see Washington being open next year wonder how my Snyder would pay to steal Jerry’s boy. Just something I thought about Jerry might want to keep JG but JG might see greener pasture.
Garrett sucks!

Jason appears to me to be 100% comfortable in his skin. He isnt worried about Jerry talking to the press and stealing "His," thunder. JG has basically been around the Cowboys most of his adult life. You think he would actually leave the team, if given an extension offer from the team? I dont see it. I am to lazy to look, but is JG married with kids? In any event, we speculate about things we really have NO clue about. I will speculate.

I think JG loves coaching THIS team. If he makes a SB, he is getting an extension for usre. If he makes the NFC title game, I think he gets an extension. Think about this. In 2014 we were a SB contender.. This is a completely different team from then, and we didnt have to drop to the bottom to make that change. Does JG get any credit? .... nah, I know he doesnt. He sucks.....

Actually I think Jason has been around the team just about all of his life. Wasn't his dad the equipment manager for like 40 years.

He was a DC scout for 17 years from 1987-2004. He coached before that at several teams in the NFL.

Might as well change the subject - neither is happening.

This is a quality team, so if they don't go deep then Garrett needs to go. Of course it all depends how Jerry feels, but that run needs to start now for Garrett to get a new deal. They need to get past the divisional round unless we're waiting on more talent or yet another scapegoat takes the fall.

and thats what jerry haters will say... well after so long eventually you are going to win a SB. Well I can say that about all those "Great," coaches out there right now that have a whopping 1 sb win. Jerry has done a great job assembling talent. If we win, it will not have been a blind squirrel scenario..

Jerry has done absolutely nothing as a GM to merit the respect of Cowboy nation in that role. The giant elephant in the room squashing your argument is that this team, under Jerry's leadership, hasn't won a divisional round playoff game since 1996. Forget the super bowl. Any coach whose won a super bowl, even just one, has accomplished way more than Jerry or anyone he's hired to coach the team since the salary cap era began.

It is a joke that is unfortunately on cowboy fans.

Ironically some believe he’s not as involved making all the decisions anyway so he might not receive all the credit he’s been pursuing.

I’m not sure if he’d finally pass the Baton if we win another one but I’d like our chances better. My hunch is we won’t win another one as long as he’s GM and Garrett’s HC.

If we've learned anything watching this train wreck of a front office over the past 23 years, its that we aren't winning anything until management hires a talented HC and gets out of his way.

Probably not. I’d always hoped we might luck onto accumulating some freakish talent along the way like at QB who’d overcome everything. But I know it’s an extreme longshot.

I don't think Tom Brady could overcome this coaching staff. Game planning, strategy, and in-game adjustments matter in this league. Every team has talent. Motivating that talent, coaching it up, and putting it in positions to succeed is what separates the teams winning super bowls from the ones struggling to make the playoffs.

I know but we won with Switzer. It’s just not possible to accumulate such talent this era to overcome coaching.

The youngest starting team in the league went to the second round of the playoffs. And you don't see us getting better. As we mature as a team the experience alone the confidence through the roof.

It's as much about the scheme I believe is it is coaching. If we get a good scheme in place I think it could overcome coaching. But I don't have a problem with Jason so

One could say in most cases Garrett wouldn't have a job long enough for any success. Three straight 8-8 seasons is not impressive. IMO he should have never had a 2014.
Actually 8/8 is the new great. How many teams go to the Superbowl and don't even make the playoffs The Following season. 2B as good as we have been consistency. The news media is just now realizing and speaking about it. I've been saying it for four seasons.

15 different teams have won a SB since the Cap began in 1994. Jerry's team has one of those. Thats means 17 teams have won nothing since the cap bagan. During that time, Dallas has had 3 different teams that were serious SB contenders. IM not going to go look, but IM pretty sure there are many, MANY teams that have had zero teams that were serious SB contenders. I also just LOVE how people want to start counting what Jerry did AFTER those 3 SB wins. If Jerry dies and doesnt win another thing... he will still have probably more SB wins than any current owner minus Kraft. You can try, but you will never erase my memories of THREE SB wins, no matter how convenient it is to do for your argument.

No one is trying to erase those historic wins . It was the most wonderful honeymoon we could have imagined. But since is like a great marriage gone awry.

And Jerry and Jimmy will always have a special place in our memories for those accomplishments. It shouldn’t give him a pass for life anymore than Landry received.

What’s happened since does matter and worthy of criticism.

How many years has JG been coach now?? Out of those years, 3 times we had a serious shot at a SB. Just didnt work out, but it wasnt because the team wasnt in place.... yeah yeah yeah, I know coaching sucks.

I wouldn’t describe them as “ serious SB contenders”.

Regardless , it doesn’t dismiss the ridiculousness we’ve had to tolerate since the 90’s mostly because of Jerry’s ways.

Jerry built that team that won those super bowls?

You apparently know very little about how the cowboys operated under Jimmy Johnson. Any fool who calls himself a fan of the team should know that Jimmy had control over player personnel. It was written into his contract and the break up happened when Jerry tried to pry personal away from him. Jimmy built those teams.
Crediting Jerry with building those teams is either ignorance or just plain lying. The past 23 years have been the worst stretch in Dallas Cowboys history , and the only common denominator is Jerry Jones.

I never hated Garrett. I just thought he was going to be an interim head coach when he took over in 2010. I felt it was lazy of Jerry to just continue on with him, but hey, I guess he saw something there. But then 3 straight 8-8 seasons? I understand that other head coaches have multiple bad seasons, but a lot of them have a history to fall back on. Maybe he got a pass because our D played some of the worst football I've ever seen in those 3 years. I'm glad that's behind us.
