And then Wentz signed and Dak's people apparently threw back another offer based on what Wentz got. So they have essentially been negotiating for roughly two months that we know about. They likely had broached this topic long before May 8th. Jerry was talking about a long term deal for Dak back in March or so, so I am sure both parties had initiated conversations further back than May 8th.

And all that being said, Wilson signed his deal, which as noted in this thread, probably set the high bar for Dak. Then Wentz signed three weeks ago. So for all intents and purposes, the parameters for what Dak should get (at least according to the Dak supporters here) is largely set. And yet nothing.

Again, I suspect that the Cowboys aren't willing to pay him more than Wentz at this point, which I am sure hurts your heart.
What a troll.

Why would that hurt my heart?

I don't care about your tangent, I was just correcting something in your post that was inaccuarate.
Wentz signing doesnt set parameters for Dak's contract, two separate players, two separate views, two separate years of which the contract would take effect, and two separate contracts that they are both currently on.

We actually agree on that last part but many on this very board have stated that Wentz's deal sets the market for Dak. If that's the case, it shouldn't be hard to get a contract together for Dak.

I suspect the Cowboys front office doesn't have that kind of money in mind for Dak, hence why this is taking longer than some thought.

It’s fine to think that. But it’s really just a guess based on opinion. I haven’t seen any actual evidence to that affect.

The reality is, nobody on this board knows for sure and the hand wringing back and forth about Dak’s
Impending contract has long since passed the point of ridiculousness.

I would imagine whatever the deal is, really only ties the team to Dak for about 3 years max before they can get out of the contract. I’m not sure why people
Are stressed about it.

It absolutely is nothing but an educated guess. But Jerry has been squawking for months about getting Dak done. Then Wilson signed an extension likely setting the upper threshold for what Dak and his party thinks he could get (ergo - he ain't getting what Wilson got). Then Wentz, the oft used comparison to Dak, signed a deal which many thought set the floor for Dak. Within days of Wentz signing three weeks ago, Dak sent a request in for more money.

And then nothing. You would think with Wilson's and Wentz's deals in place it wouldn't take long to then hammer out a deal............ and yet.

I could be way wrong on this but my gut is telling me the Cowboys aren't keen on handing Dak a Wentz level contract.

Time to move on. This team can't afford to go back to the days of overpaying 1 player.

Another working week comes to an end with no sign of any meaningful negotiations between the Cowboys and Dak.

Is Dak being Ghosted?

That may be a shared outsider perception but I doubt it is the same held by those inside the organization. In my opinion, Prescott and his agent are aware of other ongoing contract negotiations between the front office and Prescott's teammates. It is likely the Joneses are communicating regularly with both of them that they are addressing all contracts, including Prescott's, with due diligence for both the good of the franchise and each player.

The people who are stressed by it are the people who hold the opinion that Dak can't lead this team to a SB win, they don't want Dak signed at all, they think he's not a very good quarterback, never will be and if the team pays him market value the team is doomed to mediocrity for the length of his contract, or that the Cowboys won't be able to pay people around him.

In reality there are many ways to pay a player, some people look at the cost per year and/or the total cost and think the quarterback's salary is the sole determination of how good a team is going to be. They ignore the Dilfers and the Johnsons, who were not as good as Dak is now, but won SBs, or forget that the cap goes up every year....

Not everybody is getting paid LA. That's just the plain simple fact of it. Not going to happen Brother.

LOL, 48 pages of this so far. Just curious if anyone remembers what the longest thread was in Fanzone history. I'm guessing it was QB related as well. Very divisive subject.

The Beer thread in the Members Zone is almost at 1800...
I should post there. Haven't done it in a day, or two. Say hi to the peeps.

Yes but I'm more curious about a team topic on the Fan Zone. I imagine the last Garret extension was a doozy as was a post about Dak permanently replacing Romo.
