Like I said, barring a super rookie year, yes. Not just because of his lack of experience, it's also because first round picks are so valuable, who knows what position you might need next year in the draft? What if T. Smith's back gives out? What if Cooper's foot gets worse? Etc.

I just don't like giving up first round picks, unless you've got a Deion or such out there, a player that's obviously better than what you have. Don't see that Fitzpatrick is that now...

I wouldn't give up a 1st for a player that doesn't play an immediate impact need here. If this was Derwin James, hell yea that 1st is going bye-bye, but Minkah is a tweener/slot corner which we already have competent players at.

I'm thinking 2nd, if that is indeed the price. Brown is going to be expensive and Fitz is probably better. Lewis is FA the year after.

Miami is asking a #1. There's no guarantee that they'd take a #2 and even then, Taco and a #2 for someone who isn't a SS isn't worth it.

On top of that, Donovan Wilson might well be able to take over at SS by midseason. The FO needs to be careful about making rash decisions.

Yeah. No need to give up a 1 but at the same time if we're picking late 20's it's going to be difficult to draft a talent like him at that spot.

Still, I don't do it for a 1. Philly might though.

Minkah Fitzpatrick was one of the league's best slot cornerbacks last year. Cowboys don't need a slot CB at this time. Fitzpatrick is too expensive (Dolphins want at least a 1st rounder). Trading Taco (2017 1st rounder) and a 2nd round pick is too much.

Trading Taco and a 2nd for the league’s best slot CB is too much?

He's a talent that we don't really have a need for at this time.

He doesn't want to play at the SS position that we're in need of.

I wouldn't be adverse to seeing what Donovan Wilson can do, instead.

Taco is the perfect compliment to a team in the process of tanking. Him, a first and 3rd should get this done TODAY. Minkah immediately upgrades free safety, and he's cheap for 3 more seasons. What a perfect scenerio if Jerry can pull it off.

He also gives us the flexibility of not having to resign Byron. He's really a CB being forced to play safety.

We need upgrades at both safety spots. Heath and Woods both suck in coverage.

Well once we have his rights it really doesn't matter what he wants and knowing what kind of guy he is I think it would be easy to convince him to play safety.

I disagree he isn't a need. I don't think any team is going to trade for him to play corner unless it's situational.

Also, we have a lot of expiring contracts foro our DB's and this is a premium talent at DB that has 3 or 4 years left on that rookie deal.

They are absolutely going to get a #1 for Minkah.

I'm pretty sure they're not gonna take that deal for him.

There are other teams that need help in their secondary more than the Cowboys do, which is why I'm not expecting a trade to the Cowboys.
