Oh God. Seriously? It's about making the plays against elite opponents that you need to make in the moment to win.

Did you watch the damn game like I told you?
He had nothing to work with in Atlanta, bird brain. Do you think Payton in New Orleans would have hired him if he was that sorry, guess again.

Have the Cowboys officially announced it yet? Seems like everything is so hush hush.
Never seen anything like this before. The firing of Garrett, the hiring of McCarthy and Nolan, all without Jerry Jones having a press conference about it.
It's definitely very unjerry like.

I'm announcing it now...

Have never been a fan...this is the guy that was dumb enough to switch the 2000 Ravens 4-3 defense to a 3-4...and the Ravens basically squandered Ray Lewis career until he left....

I just hope he doesn't do the same thing here....It would take us 2 years to get the right people to run the 3-4...

And honestly...the 3-4 defense is dead. Teams now scheme defenses out of that by running 3 and 4 WR sets...You just can't match up w/ that personnel.

Dennis Allen runs the Saints defense.

Are you going to say every coach and player the Saints have is badass since Payton hired them? lol

You should take a look at Nolan's coaching history. Pro Foot Ref has a link.

It's disturbing...at the least.

Marinelli, whom I despise as a coach, is better than Nolan.

Marinelli went 0-16. He's the losingest coach in NFL history. No one is worst than Marinelli.

you remembering correctly???

they had zero offense. It was Jamal Lewis or bust for them. Only QB I can remember before they got Flacco was a name like Kyle Boller etc...

Their defense was the only that stayed competitive on that team. If anything blame the front office and OCs they kept hiring

you realize that 3 + 4 = 7 and 4 + 3 = 7, right?

That 2000 Ravens defense was the best ever.....why change it was my point.....Nolan did. Look @ his resume....Sweet Jesus..the guy has burned his bridges everywhere he's gone w/ in a few years....that should have thrown up a red flag. Just about everywhere he's gone...his teams have got worse. Only reason he got a shot in the first place was because his dad was Dick Nolan.

Aggressive but he will need to solidify the secondary because he relies on man and blanket coverage to bring the heat up front:

Unlike the passive coverages and blitzes seen under Van Gorder, Mike Nolan employs a tenacious defense bent on pressuring the QB and overwhelming the offensive line. This involves blitzes from the LB corps, and coordination amongst the Front Seven. Nolan's aggressiveness leaves the secondary in some tight positions, relying on man coverage with safety blankets from the safeties. Thus with a solid secondary, Nolan is allowed to be more creative with his blitzes.

From his Atlanta stint...
Focus on the best FS in the draft? Wish we grabbed him last year.
