Cowboys where literally top 10 in all the major defense stats (yards allowed, interceptions, touchdowns allowed).

Stats like total yards allowed, rushing touchdowns allowed, rush yards allowed there where literally exactly on par with the Giants defense...

It's a myth that Eli was on the only playoff team with a solid defense, even his competitor the patriots where playing lights out on defense for the entire playoff run

Think i got my defenses mixed up then.

I can not believe that guy won 2 Superbowls and is going to be a HOF'r..
The only thing he was good at is throwing the long ball. Other than that, I thought he sucked. If he gets in the HOF , that simply means , the HOF means nothing, and his brother and dad got him there from their names. ELI IS NOT a HOF player. No way , no how! The defense hot them those two ttophies

150 less touchdowns, 1 less super bowl MVP, 4 less pro bowls, almost 20,000 less yards........

LOL at "he's basically Eli":rolleyes::rolleyes: (now your REACHING).

A better example would be Big Ben (same touchdowns, same yards, 2 superbowls as well)

Guess what ? Yeah Ben will end up in the hall too......
Ben belongs there, hate to say it,. But that guy has taken a pounding for his team to help them win. I'd take big Ben over ELI all day and all year.

We must still respect him as a football player...not many could play ball at his level.
False comparison fallacy, he's in the NFL playing, not in the backyard with us. He gets compared to his contemporaries, not us. :).

not saying I disagree with you but it's just the nature of the position

60000 yards and 2 time super bowl MVP + playing the most valuable position in the sport is going to be viewed by the committee basically the equivalent of like Alan Faneca career accolades in their eyes
If he gets in, he'd be the only QB in the HOF whose career passer rating was actually below the average of his era.

4. Romo

I'm not an Eli fan by any stretch (in fact, he has always annoyed me), but it's nonsense to suggest he doesn't have the credentials to be a serious candidate for the HOF. The guy has 2 Super Bowl wins and is 7th all time both in passing yards and in TD's.
Agree, I dislike him, but he won enough and has the stats to get in the HOF....His last name doesn't hurt him in the process either........

The Eli a HOFer arguments are very interesting. Both sides have great points. Me? Guy had 2 magical runs. Very average to bad for long stretches in his career. I do not think he is a HOF QB.

Was he more than average?

I checked a couple years ago, and he averaged around 17th in the league in passer rating over his career. He is the poster child for average.

If you are going on passer rating as a stand alone stat, Dak Prescott, Tony Romo, Kirk Cousins are in! Hooray for them!

As for Eli, while passer rating wasn't his best stat, his career passer rating is still higher than HOFers like Elway, Aikman, Staubach and Moon.

Of course, no other stat matters, right?

The Mannings are the 1st Family of the NFL.

They represent everything that’s great about this league. During a period in NFL history with gangster hip hop attitudes and domestic violence behavior thats shamed this league we have one of the greatest stories in NFL history with two brothers from a father who also was a marquee player.

I’ll duck while I’m bombarded with hate responses.

I don’t think he’s a HOF player
His SB wins will get him in though
He’s the poster child for exactly what people complain about from the old Steelers teams where undeserving players made the HOF
He was a good QB but he’s not an all time great with all those all pro seasons he had

He had a nice career and has been a guy the giants could be proud to represent their team
I don’t think he’s HOF worthy but he probably gets in
He’s the all time passing leader for the Giants.

And ranks seventh all-time in NFL passing yards (57,023), passing touchdowns (366) and passing completions (4,895).
