This is the first time I can remember Jerry didn’t speak at the Senior Bowl and it’s the first time Will McClay has. Jerry was back in DFW doing something for a Bob McNair award one day. Never in Mobile that I’ve seen.

The roles in Mobile are clear: Stephen goes and sees agents while McClay and staff watch players.

every NFL GM was there, and the Cowboys co-GMs were too. Will (personnel) and Stephen (cap).

Don’t let all the DFW radio hype fool you. Jerry yes still is involved in big decisions but it’s to give his stamp of approval. He does and will always have final say on big things like head coaching hirings/firings and big trades:contracts . But the day to day is being run by Will and Stephen. This is all the proof you need.

Jerry is not forcing coaches or players on this team anymore. And he hasn’t for awhile. Now if you want to still blame Stephen, sure. Stephen said 2 weeks ago he was involved in decision to take Garrett’s playcalling away. But the days of worrying about Jerry’s day to day meddling are long gone.
well he happen to have a special engagement so not sure that proof but hes always trusted WM and truly we know WM is the GM without title..he still will be an owner who has the final say and wants it all ran through him..WM cant make final decsions without hitting up Jerry and Stephen..

We need another 2016 style draft where we hit big on a few players. After Taco and Hill we have lost some ground imo. Another big draft would go a long ways towards our success.
thats easier when you are picking high in each round, top 5 lol but yes a solid draft full of stud defenders would be nice..

Good to know I'm not alone moving into my mid to late life.. LOL.. Yes, Hill does have some major red flags my friend, but, I know I did as well when I was young and immature. I think the kid has a chance if he can grow mentally and physically and dedicate himself to maximizing his skill set.

When I look at Hill I see some incredible gifts physically, hopefully he can prove everyone wrong and make some real progress in 2020.

Very true. Our hallmark has been not whiffing on first rounders. Then we selected Taco. Now people are worried about LVE. I think (hope) he comes back strong next season. Aside from that we've nailed one or two other picks each draft.

Its important to remember Hill wasn't our first round pick last year. Any unbiased judgement of that draft needs to include Coop as our 1.

I still love McClay, but I get the sense we really need one of his better drafts this season. With so many FAs leaving a talent infusion would be a huge building block back into contention.

Puh-leeze!!!! Jerry gave you the shiny new object (HC hiring his staff), so you can get distracted that hes not qualified. The dude had a 2-day hiring process because he heard bells. The richest franchise in sports history, with enough resources to do overdue process in hiring and Jerry holds a 2 day event. Hes not qualified to meddle in any part of football. NONE! He is are only competitive disadvantage as long as he has any say, especially when he has FINAL MEDDLING say.

When I see JJ not giving a press conference after the game at the same time as the head coach then I will believe....

Jerry’s biggest strength and failure is loyalty. He use to hold on too long to players and Stephen got him out of that, and than he held onto JG way too long, and Stephen FINALLY convinced him of that.

Oh, Stephen has paid his dues at this point...as well.

Neither Jerry or Stephen were stupid. Business approaches change and progress. Not all progress is completely good, but the sport/game has survived. Good for us Cowboys fans...

Zoners’ unsubstantiated opinions as to who’s running the Dallas Cowboys:

$0.00

Jerry Jones’ opinion:

@$5.5 billion — and counting!

Somebody correct me but wasn’t the Cooop acquisition a Jerry move?

He had final say on all big trades as stated before. But the value and idea came from McClay. Jerry isn’t pouring over tape and deciding who to trade for.
That's always been the case though. You don't think a scout told him to trade all that crap for Roy Williams? Or for Mo Claiborne? He listened and got burned.
