Do I really have to answer this for you?
Martin, Collins, Tyron Smith, Cooper, Lamb, Zeke, Dak (will be), Pollard, young Olineman, Jarwin
Lawrence, Poe and McCoy for 2 or 3 years, LVE, Jaylon, Diggs,
Am I missing anyone?
Gallup is only in his 3rd year and LVE we can keep for this year and two other years. Rookie DT is good for 4 years.
You can see clearly the window and the planning.
As with the 2019 team, looks good on paper....however:
1) Spoken like a true Cowboys fan - NO DEFENCE
2) LAWRENCE - not playing up to contract and a candidate to be released for $5m before 2022 ……. GO CHECK THE REMAINING CAP FOR 2022.
3) POE and McCOY - good additions but NOT the leaders of a SB winning team.
4) POE - FA before 2022 season (2 year window) - check point 2) to remind you about the CAP in 2022.
5) LVE - where is the cover, good when on field. I suppose without LEE and ALDON likely gone (retirement and affordability respectively) - we could play with 1 1/2 LB's
6) The following cheap or secondary players are FA's in the next two years: LEE, SMITH, GREGORY, CRAWFORD, WOODS, AWUZIE, CLINTON-DIX, LEWIS.....whilst not core, how do you replace on a shoestring.
7) So one of our greatest reasons for not proceeding to and through the playoffs is our Secondary and you want to play with a core of one ROOKIE.
8) ESTIMATED CAP SPACE LEFT:
2020 - $11M,
2021 - $36M (That's after removing the FA's and replacing with basic pays AND NOT TAKING INTO ACCOUNT A QB)
2022 - $54M (Again removing FA's and not including a QB..... will have to consider releasing COOPER and LAWRENCE (which leases $30m, but creates gaps).
THAT IS NOT A GOOD CORE ON THE DEFENSIVE SIDE OF THE BALL.
