1- The Cowboys will not take an OLB in the first round.
2- The Cowboys won't take a safety in the first round.
3- The Cowboys won't take a reciever in the first round.
4- Unless someone unexpectedly falls, Dallas trades down out of the first round for a potentially higher first rounder next year. (We are talking Hawk, Huff or Justice)
5- Burnett is the starter at OLB in 06.
6- Beriault is the starter at FS in 06.
7- TO gets through the year with no real mishaps (not counting the media blowing stupid things out of proportion)
8- Henson beats Romo for the backup job.
9-Dallas takes a NT on the first day.
10- Dallas takes a Guard on the first day.

Only time will tell.

Oh my! No one has ever switched safety spots before! You're right. This is crazy talk.

When you have near zero coverage ability, yes, it is crazy to talk about switching to SS

As tough as it is to watch Davis in coverage, Beriault would give me a heart attack. Give me Davis, sir.

Oh you must have seen all his games at Ball State then to have determined this. You can't just assume he is terrible in coverage. He's played 2 preseason games, and has a pick. That's all.

As far as Davis goes, he has all the skills to be good in coverage, but he's just never in the right place. A bit of smarts can make up for a lack of athleticism.

The knock on him is his lack of coverage ability. Every scouting report of him says this.

I agree with everything but Beriault moving to FS. I wish he could, but I dont think it will happen. As for drafting a OG on the first day, if he is there, great, but I would still pick up a sleeper UDFA after the draft-- Tim Popowski from North Dakota State.

4.6 saftey's with two good knees dont play free... Last thing I want to see again this year is Santana blowing by One Knee Justin in a Cover 2 set. Ill take my chances with Brock Marion on that one

I really don't think scouts evaluate each player equally. Coming from a small school they probably just saw he only ran 4.6 or whatever and was white and stamped a "can't cover" tag on him. I want to actually see what he can do before I make up my mind.

Beriault had a pick in only 2 preseason games with limited action. Our supposedly best cover safety Willie Pile has zero career interceptions. I'm just saying don't rule out Beriault because of a couple scouting reports.

Beriault and Tyson Thompson are the new Lynn Scott and Randol Williams.

Which means we'll be hearing about how they should be starting for the next 3 years until they get cut and we draft new preseason warriors.

Okay, so you (heavyhitta) believe the scouting consensus that Beriault can't cover. Well there's also the consensus that Roy can't cover, and he played FS for 3 years, and quite well whenever Woody was also in the lineup. So should we have benched Roy since he couldn't cover according to scouts? Or is it possible the scouts are just wrong sometimes? I'm sure all the scouts knew Tom Brady would be good and that Ryan Leaf would flop.

I have no idea if Beriault can play FS. At the same time, he played SS in college and was very strong against the run. Can he play strong coverage? I think he will get a chance to prove that in training camp. Although his 40 time was nothing special 4.56 it isnt terrible. However, he does have some quickness. As evidence by his combine workout.
20 yd shuttle - 3.80 sec FASTEST OVERALL time
60 yd shuttle - 10.82 3rd fastest overall
1st fastest among safeties
How that translates to the field? I don't know. To say he is a stiff who can't cover anyone is a little premature. Give the kid a chance. So what if he turns out to be RWs backup at SS. That wouldn't be so bad.

For all intensive purposes, he can't

We didn't get to see much of Beriault last year, only a bit in pre season games before his injury. However, there is no denying, in his limited playing time, that he is just one of those guys who alwyas seems to be around the ball. IMHO he has too much talent to just be a back up for RW and I think they will give him a shot to compete at FS. I'm not sure where these coverage knocks came from but I wouldn't put too much stock in them just yet. I stand by my prediction.

He can't cover Santana Moss. Most corners can't cover him. But Roy has solid cover skills for a safety.
