Earlier they had a poll: Do you trust Jerry to make the right hire?

And the only choices were "low" or "zero". Nothing else was allowed. :laugh2:

That sounds fair.......:D

honestly dude...you dont know what Jones has talked to the other coaches he may interview about...it could be everyone of them has said "Garrett is a great guy to go get"..."so go get him"

get a grip man

David

You have zero evidence that that's the case, and Jerry's contempt for the position of HC does not give him the benefit of the doubt. Only dysfunctional organizations do business this way, and no HC candidate of any value would sign off on it. It's assbackwards.

Really? You?

Have you ever been happy with the Cowboys buddy?

Instead of personalizing the debate or attacking my motives, try responding to the content of the post, kay?

Well according to Fisher that is not the case anymore.

You also assume that Garrett was NOT cleared with the various HC candidates.

As an aside, if you hate Jones and the team so much, why do you follow them?

Tired cheapshots aside, I love the team. Been doing so since '78. That's why Jerry has to go. No one who has the team's best interests at heart would trust Jerry with anything.

Were you saying that in 1989 when he made the greatest move by firing Landry and bringing in Johnson, or in 1992 when we won our first of three SBs in four years?

What? I was asking an honest question ..... for 2 years I have never seen you post a positive post .....

I ask again .... have you ever been happy about the Cowboys?

I only ask because we are such good buddies now and I am worried about your mental and emotional state.

The HC hires all assistants. Period.

That is just total bullcrap. it doesnt happen that way all the time in the NFL and NO its just not some "Jerry" thing. get a grip. Hell I've heard two NFL coaches just this week mention coaches dont always hire an entire staff when going into a new team

Absolutely. I was ecstatic. Jerry lucked out in the sense that he had a personal history with JJ at Arkansas. But tons of teams would have been after Jimmy after his success at Miami. It's not like Jerry found a diamond in the rough.

niether do you, so why keep it up until we see otherwise?

and Jerry's contempt for the position of HC does not give him the benefit of the doubt

yeah, so much contempt that he hired a HOF coach, paid him a gazillion dollars and gave him total control of the franchise

Only dysfunctional organizations do business this way, and no HC candidate of any value would sign off on it. It's assbackwards

thats not what Jeff Fisher just said

This forum wasn't around during the glory years, so you missed out on my sunny optimism. This team has been outright bad or underachieving for a long long time. Has that escaped your notice? If I was glum after the Tampa or second Giants game, that's when you can slam me, but I wasn't. They only get bashed when they deserve to, which is a lot in recent years or when they conduct chaotic, bizarre coaching searches.

Using that logic then, Jimmy really should get no credit because after all anyone could have coached the 1992-1993 teams to championships.

Absolutely, esp the good ones. It's not like Garrett was already on the staff. Jerry went out and got him with no consideration for the feelings or needs of the next coach. If the HC doesn't have the authority to pick his own players and coaches, then he has NO authority. He's a cipher. A sock puppet. An emasculated nobody. Players will walk all over him or defer to Jerry's guy (Garrett). WHO DOES BUSINESS THAT WAY? Jerry, that's who.

So then why did Miami sign their DC with no consideration for Cameron?

why Did AZ say they were keeping their staff before even hiring Wisenhunt

Hell Bellichick had coaches in place when he was hired in new england he didnt hire a whle new staff

You say he had no consideration even though it has already been reported that he spoke to the canidates about Garrett and they approved

Could it be that as per usual you are just looking for a reason to bash the Cowboys and something that is so simple like this is being blown up by you?

It was just reported Garrett has not been named OC that his position will not be designated until a HC is named. Well looks like he is letting the HC decide what to do with him so much for your theory

BBgun were you mad in 1994 when Switzer was forced to keep cowboys coaches from the jimmy johnson era?

Huh? Jimmy gets all of the credit. Jerry just signed the checks, and that should be his sole role. He's a businessman, not a GM.

No, the bigger offense was Switzer himself. He was a joke; a placeholder. In 2007, we're talking about attracting a quality hc candidate. Switzer has no place in that conversation.

It should be noted that Jerry was the one who hired Jimmy.

No, you said Jerry didn't do anything special picking up Jimmy because anyone could have seen how great he was. That is the same logic as saying Johnson was nothing special with Aikman, Irvin, Smith etc because even you and I would have won with them, just tell them go out and play ball.
