yeah, chuck howley said that's how it works.
Chuck Howley had to wait so long because the Cowboys kept coming up short in championship games. They lost a couple of championship games to the Packers and a Super Bowl to the Colts. The reason a lot of Green Bay Packers are in the Hall of Fame is because of the championships they won. Linebacker Dave Edwards had similar stats to Chuck Howley, and he got in years ahead of him, because the Packers kept beating the Cowboys when it mattered most.

Are you saying Don Meredith was on the same level as Dan Marino? Lol Just to fill you in, Dan Marino was one of the all-time great NFL QBs. Possibly the greatest pure passer in NFL history. He was the first QB to pass for over 5000 yards and he did it with a couple of receivers who will never even sniff the Hall of Fame. He was the all-time leading passer when he retired from the NFL. No offense, but you continue to prove you don’t know what you’re talking about.
Don Meredith was an SMU All American QB that came up in a different era completely - that replaced the 'lil General provided by Washington. He took unflenching hits as the Cowboys first grew as a franchise. You saying here and now that he doesn't get your form of graces and to be mentioned respectfully that person is really without foundations or insights to quality play. He has already earned this fan's undying respect.

As to your insults now....'Turn out the lights, the party's over...all good things, must come to an end...'

You set the standard of not winning it all and now don't own it....answer the question, if you can and without a mumble jumble of excuses.

Meredith is a borderline HOFer. He's ranked as a Cowboy's QB right behind Staubach and Aikman. Any other Cowboy's QB is a distant 4th.

Howley was also named the MVP of Super Bowl V and is the only player on a losing team to receive the award.

The 1971 season saw Howley earn his final Pro Bowl honor. Dallas reached the Super Bowl again and won the first championship in franchise history. Howley played well enough to win the MVP Award again, recovering a fumble and returning an interception 41 yards, but it was given to quarterback Roger Staubach instead.

Don’t attempt to divert. How was Don Meredith comparable to Dan Marino?

There were no insults, I said you don’t know what you’re talking about. I guess you think that song is the reason Don Meredith should be in the Hall of Fame? Lol Maybe the Country Music Hall of Fame but not the Pro Football Hall of Fame…Ha!

I’m just giving you my opinion as to why I think it took so long for Chuck Howley to get in the Hall of Fame.

Landry said, "I don’t know that I’ve seen anybody better at linebacker than Howley."

No, what was done was to acknowledge the fact...and if that needs explanation to get into your center of reference, just don't comment anything that includes value as a basis....and expect everyone else to respect yours.

Has someone invested in Progressive Insurance yet? Don't even ask why...

That has nothing to do with the topic you posted. You continue to divert. You compared Don Meredith with Dan Marino and refuse to give a reason why. I didn’t agree with some of the names you listed for the Hall of Fame and you took offense.

A gong will go off the first time you say something correctly.

Lee Roy Jordan, LB, 1963-76

There is arguably not a more deserving former Cowboy more deserving of enshrinement in Canton than Jordan.

Ed “Too Tall” Jones, DE, 1974-89

Too Tall was the No. 1 overall pick in 1973 and lived up to the billing.

Don Meredith, QB, 1960-68

Dandy Don is one of the greatest personalities the NFL has ever produced.

Jason Witten, TE, 2003-18

Being consistently great has to count for something. And there isn’t a Cowboy who showed up ready for work more often than Witten.

Everson Walls, CB, 1981-89

Walls was a shutdown cover corner, who made a massive impact during his rookie season in 1981, intercepting 11 passes. He led the league in interceptions two other times in his career.

Darren Woodson, S, 1992-2003

The Cowboys’ all-time leading tackler (813 solo), Woodson is the most recent entrant to the team’s Ring of Honor. Woodson was a member of all three Super Bowl winning teams in the 1990s and made three straight All-Pro teams and five straight Pro Bowls.

Harvey Martin, DE, 1973-83

It took a generational pass rusher like DeMarcus Ware to eclipse Martin’s franchise sack record.

Cornell Green, CB, 1962-74

One of legendary scout Gil Brandt’s greatest discoveries, Green didn’t play football until he reached the NFL. He was a basketball star in college.

Tony Romo, QB, 2004-16

Romo is the most polarizing player in franchise history.

Ralph Neely, OT, 1965-77

Neely became the Cowboys’ starting right tackle immediately after being drafted in 1965. He was named to the NFL’s All-Rookie team. He became a three-time All-Pro and two-time Pro Bowler at the position.

Nate Newton, OG, 1986-98

The Cowboys had one of the greatest offensive lines of all time during the 1990’s. Yet only one player off that line – Larry Allen – is in the Hall of Fame.

George Andrie, DE, 1962-72

Andrie ranks as one of the most underrated players in franchise history.

Charlie Waters, S, 1970-81

The back end of the Doomsday defense was special.

I like Romo, but he is never going to even get close to the HOF, unless it's as a broadcaster.

I gave all the reasons Don Meredith isn’t in the Hall of Fame, and not one of the reasons was because he didn’t win a championship. This was your response. No point in wasting anymore time with it.

Did Dan Marino win a trophy his whole career even with Jimmy Johnson pushing buttons?

How was Don Meredith a Hall of Fame QB? He had a 1-3 playoff record and lost a couple of championship games to the Packers. He got booed so much by Cowboys fans he got fed up and quit. He talked about all the fan abuse he took in an interview. He had less than 18,000 yards passing in his career. Meredith was the Cowboys first good QB, and was as tough as they come, but he was no Hall of Fame QB. That’s just being honest. A lot of fans loved him as an announcer and look back on his playing days and feel sorry for him. Players don’t get inducted into the Hall of Fame because people feel sorry for them.

Sorry guy, but you have no idea what the Hall of Fame is all about if you think Don Meredith and Tony Romo were Hall of Fame QBs. If they had a Hall of Fame for toughness Don Meredith would be in on the first ballot, but that’s not what the Hall of Fame is about.Meredith had a great sense of humor too. To me, he made Monday night football fun to watch just for a laugh.

Cornell Green stats are better than Woodson and Waters and he never played football until the Cowboys.

Green never missed a game in 13 seasons, he played 168 games, including 145 consecutive starts for the Cowboys (19621974). He made five Pro Bowls at two different positions — cornerback and strong safety. He is sixth in career interceptions (34) in Cowboys history. He retired as a player in September 1975, and went from part-time to full-time scout for the Cowboys.[6][7]

In 1985, he was named to the Dallas Cowboys 25th Anniversary Team
