That is awesome!

War is not waged on innocent civilians. These are Savage and cowardly acts.

They don't want an actual war, because they know they don't stand a chance.

Ironic that they believe so deeply yet don't believe their God would will them to victory in a real war.

They wanted the full attention of the world and now they've gotten it by making enemies in all the wrong places (France, US, and even Russia).

They've ensured the demise of their existence, now.

Glass the *******s.

Sad. So sad. :( Why always in France though?

They do not protect their borders (or within) very well. They have a huge muslim population too. The larger the muslim population is, the more likely you will have those types of muslims.

ISIS has been around for over a decade. It's the same organization we fought in Fallujah in 2004. They learned along time ago they could beat us toe to toe

So we dismantle these people's countries, governments and homes, and we still get upset when they fight back? wow.

There is a reason the countries in the area have strong dictators that rule them, thats whats needed to keep these morons at bay. Saddam kept Iran, ISIS/AlQada at bay. But you know, it was best to take him out. Gaddafi, etc. etc. smh. People wont learn. Just rinse and repeat.

There's some truth there... but it goes well beyond that. Christian vs. Muslim vs. Jewish has been there for centuries.

Yeah, part of it is from "rocking the boat" in that part of the world, but be assured it (unrest) was going to happen again... Look at the history books... Unrest in that part of the world has occurred time after time after time again. Sure Saddam kept a lid on that issue (and tore the scab off of others) but that's just part of the cycle... It's like saying the "Ottomans kept a lid on things for a while".

Eventually it was going to happen (again).

And much of it comes down to one group saying/thinking, "You know everyone ought to follow OUR religious scripture– no matter what their current beliefs are" and that's when hell breaks loose.

This has been going on before there was even a US, let alone an state of Israel.

No doubt our unsophisticated, bludgeoning approach at times has only made it worse....but anyone who thinks US or Euro policies in the middle east is the main driver does not know history.
Islamic Jihadists have no desire to sit at home and passively live their lives according to their twisted idea of religion.
In stark contrast to others, they feel the entire world should convert or be killed. Period.

I do think it will have to be the people from that area of the world that oppose those view--which is the vast majority--to finally stand up and fight the extremists. They will need help from the rest of the world, but they need to do it. Outsider boots on the ground will never be the final answer. If anything, it make things worse long term. imo

As interesting and pertinent as these reflections are, let's not turn this thread into a debate over US policy in the Middle East out of respect for the victims and forum guidelines.

The response will be interesting.

Strategic bombing only works to a point.

Certainly we're well beyond the point of appeasement... And that won't work long-term anyway because these groups tend to be like the "Blob" and try to absorb more and more.

Fundamentally I suppose that's why this problem hasn't been solved in thousands of years. All you can really do is cap it for another period of time.

At least one of the assailants verified as a French citizen with previous ties to radical Islamic groups.

Most people never really see what the carnage looks like in these mass shootings. I can understand taking some steps to keep graphic images away from children, but I don't think condemning these attacks with words, logic, and statistics is very strong from a PR standpoint.

I may be going on a limb here but usually when a country/government lose the war they usually just quit and dissolve.

When the ***** lost ww2 **** Germany was dismantled and they did not (as far as I am aware of) continue operations to attack innocent people or work "under the radar". They took the loss and rebuilt with a lot of debt they had to pay as a result of losing the war.

This hasn't been the case with these Islamic groups. As someone had mentioned before Isis had lost in 2004 but they did not dissolve and just continued with business as usual.

The difference between the two is that the world has really not focus all out campaigns against these groups, as we did with **** Germany. Half in, half out strategies will not work. Nobody has the will to do what needs to be done to effectively end this behavior.

Thats the difference in a country vs. rogue crazy people.

The victims deserve a people who realize they screwed up and helped cause this and are willing to change. We simply cannot continue down this path.

Of course this has been going on for awhile. We've been messing in the middle east since at least WW2.

The point is, these "dictators" that we keep taking out are actually doing our dirty work for us.

We wont go and shouldnt go spend the time and money to pick out ISIS murderers and kill them...but Gadaffi and Saddam had NO problem doing such.

We completely upset the balance of power, put all these countries in chaos. Then with a power vacuum we helped ISIS come in and be able to fill it. Now we're trying to arm the Kurds to have someone back in power that will work to take out ISIS. Vicious cycle.
