Jerry and Stephen are definitely behind all these assistant coaches being let go and replaced. this doesn't seem like something garrett would do. which basically leaves two scenarios. either the team will go far into the playoffs next year, or its last year of garrett.

basically fingers are being pointed at the assistant coaches for failures of 2017. Jerry/stephen want some continuity and give it one more shot with this head coaching staff. garrett is officially on a hot seat, and not because the fans and media say so

The "problem" would be if he takes them to the playoffs that means he gets another year. I think Jerry is going to die with Garrett at the helms. He is afraid to let him go.

Would you have said this last year?

You want to believe Garrett is on the hot seat, and maybe he is, but nothing has ever given that suggestion.
Nope
But the nfl is a what have you done for me lately business
I don’t see many ways Jerry will live with another year of no playoffs
Last year Garrett was a 10 in Jerry’s book but I suspect some of that shine has gone and another 8-8 or 9-7 season and Jerry will go for the next shiny object

No way to know. There is talk that some assistants were at odds with Garrett or the coordinators.

There was no way Garrett was in trouble 1 year after 13-3.

It's possible Garrett could be in trouble next year if he loses but we as fans are rooting against that because we want to win.

They'll likely be good enough to make the playoffs next year which keeps Garrett safe. If they don't it's probably for some catastrophic reason like injuries to key players which would give Garrett another excuse.

Perhaps for the rest of the league but I've never, ever felt like this was the case for Garrett. He's a .500 coach with 3 playoff appearances in 8 years and a playoff record of .333. If his head has not been on the chopping block before now, I don't see why it would be later. JMO

What makes you guys think that this is all the Jones family and Garrett has no say in the matter?

Or do you all just believe whatever the **** you want and spew it out as undisputed facts? Seems like that is what this board has become so that shouldn't surprise me.

You guys are always trying to read into things, with contracts ending and the team just trying to upgrade it's staff, these are no more than natural changes that happen to all teams.

And those teams that continue changing coaches more often than not get worse.

Rams might say different.

Either way, I am not in favor of rash decision but 8 years is long enough to know and to show results IMO. You can't really complain about fans who want to see change.

As I said more often than not, but you also have to look at the Rams records, they could barely win 5 games a year for years. They're the exception..

That's true when you're lopping them off every 2-3 years, but when the guy is approaching a decade and can't get the job done it becomes insane to think one more year will do it. I guess it depends on your goals. For the Cowboys, it used to be championships. Maybe that's changing?

The Bengals have lost their minds with Marvin Lewis. I hope the Cowboys don't do the same thing with Garrett.

To me, they kinda mirror us. Jeff Fisher was with the Rams for a good amount of time with unspectacular results. Once the Rams made the change, the team came around. Obviously that is no guarantee but what does it matter? We can move on from Garrett and suffer, yet another season, with no Super Bowl or we can keep him and see the same thing. Either way, he's had plenty of time and you can't blame the fan base IMO. They are tired it. What really compounds it is the fact that there were probably 3 games we could have easily won if the coaching decisions were smarter.

It is what it is but a lot of better Coaches have been fired with much less time on the job to show results. Heck, we have had three Hall of Fame Coaches with Super Bowl wins who have either been fired or forced out with less time on the job. It's hard to find fault with the fan base at this point.

I'd be fine with keeping Robotron around if he was at least consistent with making the playoffs. You could point to that and say hey he's making the playoffs and just needs to tweak 1 or 2 things to take it to the next level like Cowher. Starting off with 8-8 seasons and then doing this yo-yo pattern of good vs bad seasons is enough for me. But I'll say it again. He'll be on the hot seat. He'll do more robotic beeping and booping next season and he'll be back with an extension. Then we'll get to look forward to whether the trend will continue with another down year.

Really? That cowboys narrative was 20 years ago when you were able to keep teams, coaches, and schemes together for years. Stop living in the past.
