2 scenarios for Garrett

Should it happen, I wonder if lack of playoff success next season would break Jerry's mindset of Garrett being the next Landry (tenure). I understand not wanting to cycle through new coaches every two-to-four years, but I'm not sure Jason is who I want to hitch my wagon to.

1. It was a fact Dallas was pursuing Sparano in 2012, but he took the Jets job.

2. Sparano didn’t get demoted, he wasn’t OC here. He was OL coach and RG coach.

3. Our offense got worse when Sparano left. We went from a top 3 scoring offense to 16 as soon as JG had total control and we were bottom in the league in red-zone scoring with Garrett the majority of his time here.

4. Parcells had nothing to do with Garrett. He was gone by then.

5. The only reason we moved the ball was because of Romo.

perhaps dallas was pursuing sprano...not for OC....for a position coach...again, I had mentioned that. the fact is he was OC in 2006 and was demoted and garrett replaced him.

he called plays as the OC in 2006. under parcells....

our offense was better when garrett became OC and sprano demoted to a position coach. we took a dip and then our offense was better under garrett. in fact it was #2 in 2009. it was consistently top 10 under garrett until the last year when the team quit on wade.....

parcells had nothing to do with garrett. I never said that. I said, sprano started under parcells and was promoted to play caller in 2006.

the only reason we moved the ball was because of romo. the only reason SF succeeded this year was because of grapolo, the only reason GB made the playoffs was because of aaron rogers, the only reason detriot succeeds is because of Stafford, the only reason texans succeeded this eyar was because of watson, the only reason seatle succeeded was because of wilson. what's your point?

the fact remains that sprano thought of himself more than he was. he failed after he left dallas. he failed in Miami. he failed with jets. and Sprano had romo too!!! again what's your point.

Jerry and Stephen are definitely behind all these assistant coaches being let go and replaced. this doesn't seem like something garrett would do. which basically leaves two scenarios. either the team will go far into the playoffs next year, or its last year of garrett.

basically fingers are being pointed at the assistant coaches for failures of 2017. Jerry/stephen want some continuity and give it one more shot with this head coaching staff. garrett is officially on a hot seat, and not because the fans and media say so
Oh, you can never count Jerry out for more futility. He's the master.

Who wanted Sparano? Surely not me..

Jerry and Jason did, mainly because Jason couldn’t handle the play calling duties by himself and they were trying to reproduce 2007 success..
in case you forgot. 2009 dallas had #2 offense. no sprano. 2010, #7 offense. no sprano. 2011, #11 offense. no sprano. 2012, #6 offense. no sprano.

fact is sprano as OC in dallas had one good season. that's it. never again. in 2008, Miami was #12. he made the playoffs. and lost!!! in 2009, 2010, he had 7-9 record as head coach...and #17, #21 offense......in 2011, they were 22nd.

so the coach you so much tout, sucked as a head coach, as an OC and was demoted in dallas and never got another job offer.

so your false made up assertion (after your supposed dinner with the Jones') doesn't hold much water. same period, garrett out performed him

I am sure you are going to spin this into a romo thing or a player thing or something else.

fact is sprano sucked. he is out of the league.

Those statistics you are providing are yardage and again YARDAGE does not equal scoring... those numbers were necessarily inflated because Dallas was behind in plenty of games and their yardage came in up-tempo and hurry up.. Dallas dropped to bottom half of the league in scoring as SOON as Sparano left.

There is nothing fake about it.. The Cowboys were looking to rehire Sparano.

I am not touting Sparano. The point is your ‘supercoach’ couldn’t do jack squat so Jerry and Company were trying to remodel their 2007 success by bringing back Sparano, which means even these guys knew that 2007 wasn’t Garrett and he needed to be baby-sat again, but Sparano took the Jets job.

And the very next year Jerry started taking play calling duties away from Garrett anyways..

Would you have said this last year?

You want to believe Garrett is on the hot seat, and maybe he is, but nothing has ever given that suggestion.

A lot of time coaches get fired without any suggestion of it a year in advance. In fact, many times a year in advance of the firing the GM can sometimes be found giving full support to a coach and saying they see him coaching the team for many years to come.

Maybe...maybe not.

If the Cowboys make the playoffs next season, Garrett isn’t getting fired. If they somewhat underachieve (no playoffs again), the Joneses still have OC Linehan and DC Marinelli to throw under the bus before they part ways with JG.

Barring catastrophic injuries or suspensions —both out of JG’s control — the only way Jerry Jones is gonna fire Jason Garrett is if the Cowboys start the season, say, 0-8 (similar to Wade Phillips’ 1-7 start in 2010), or if they experience a season-long collapse with, say, a 2-10 or 3-13 finish. And again, Garrett only gets fired as long as any such failure can’t be rationalized away or blamed on key injuries/suspensions.
