That was 8 years ago buddy when his incompetence hadn't been fully exposed

He would not get another job as a HC if fired now
AT THE TIME, nobody knew anything, nobody had a crystal ball (seems like you do). he had a job offer. FACT. he may not have a market today, but at the time he did. end of discussion

this is not a hypothetical about him getting fired. the question was where was the market AT THE TIME for Garrett. FACT is that he had a job offer from Baltimore. end of discussion

your other assertion is a hypothetical as well. we might have gone through 2-3 coaches by now as we did right after Johnson. coach after coach, after coach. that's what history says about Jerry. what you have is a dream that this team would have won something without Garrett. what we have seen is chaos from past experience.

LOL.........so he had ONE team that was possibly interested in hiring him? Wow, he was hot. LOL

one team who offered him the job. gave him a contract offer. not possibly. OFFERED a contract. so spinning it won't help your argument. you are trying to justify your argument having looked through your crystal ball...oh wait. its 8 years later. you are now making changes to history based on events that happened in 8 years since.

so how many offers did gruden get? Fox? Marrone? McVey? O'Brian? not many NFL coaches get multiple offers. perhaps bilicheck if he ever tries to leave patriots. perhaps sean peyton. McCarthy. list is very very very very very short.

My argument was laughing in your face that Garrett "was a hot coaching candidate". He never was and he never will be.

And it doesn't matter anyway. HE sucks as a head coach . So if the whole world was interested in him, they were all dead wrong.

If this is about Garrett's HC interest prior to the Cowboys, the Rams, Ravens, and Falcons all reportedly had interest in him to some degree or other besides Dallas. Which shouldn't be surprising at the time given that he was a hot coaching commodity and had endorsements from heavy hitters he'd worked with over the years.

How many years left on Garrett’s contract?

Should be his last right?

The only coach that can get play-calling duties stripped from him, told by the owner that he has a good feel for ambiguity and they don’t want his input on offense is Jason Garrett with respect to Jerry Jones..

It’s bizarre world.. don’t have any idea why Jerry likes Father Garrett so much.. it’s not like he’s accomplished anything with him and Lacewell all these years. Even the owners ride the coattails of Jerry as regards business and suspend Zeke and he tolerates it..

I think it depends on the situation. fisher wasn't a players coach, and had outdated schemes. but he left a very talented team for them. and they did good in off season FA. they had a nice talent base to start and a new scheme has revived them. now, similar to Dak and cowboys there is a season of tape on them, I bet it will be different for them next year.

They have the same GM as they do with Fisher.. Fisher didn’t give him credit and that same GM with his new coach made great moves again in the off-season,

It would be hard to sustain the argument Fisher ‘built’ the team without that GM..

The ONLY reason Garrett is still HC is not because of his coaching ability, it’s because the Garrett family is tied now to the Jones family.

Jerry is surrounding him with experienced coordinators as far as he can get away with it. Jerry has already flat out said he’s a HC in training and that they no longer want him on the offense and so on. Jerry wants to win his way.

That is the ONLY reason.

And it’s not Garrett every season that people get excited about, it’s the Cowboys..

Atlanta and the Ravens had interest in 2008 after his first year riding off the coat-tails of Sparano.

The Ravens got Harbaugh, multiple playoff appearances and a SB and his players mocking Jason Garrett as they called out the simplicity of his offense when they played them after the hire.

There was a rumor in around 2010 when Garrett was exposed as a bum that the Rams interviewed and were going to hire him and their FO got inundated with phone calls from fans and season ticket holders saying they better not do it basically and the Rams denied any offer was made.

Tryong to rewrite facts in History won't help your cause. You are a typical clueless fan as you have priven on multiple ocassions. You wait until after the fact to make proclamations. Which says a lot about you.

No crystall ball. Coach and GM kind of vo hand in hand (except for dallas). Lets wait a couple of years before passing judgement.

Of course he did and the Cowboys were actually trying to get him back here to help Garrett again in 2012, but Sparano took the Jets job..

That just shows how clueless this organization and Garrett were and are.. this ultimately led to Garrett being demoted from play calling..

and sprano sucked up there too....if sprano would have taken over, you would want him gone instead of garrett. sprano is just the grass on the other side...it only seems greener.

Who wanted Sparano? Surely not me..

Jerry and Jason did, mainly because Jason couldn’t handle the play calling duties by himself and they were trying to reproduce 2007 success..

and you say this as if you had dinner with Jerry and Stephen.....there are a bunch of assistant coaches on the team. did it cross your mind that Sprano was brought back as an assistant coach. and btw, garrett was hired and sprano demoted from OC and the offense improved. sprano left and the offense continued to be a top 10 offense in his absence sprano fizzeled out as OC other places and eventually out of the league. perhaps Parcells helped Sprano and then Garrett. fact is no one wanted to hire sprano.....except garrett haters who think grass is greener on the otherside

1. It was a fact Dallas was pursuing Sparano in 2012, but he took the Jets job.

2. Sparano didn’t get demoted, he wasn’t OC here. He was OL coach and RG coach.

3. Our offense got worse when Sparano left. We went from a top 3 scoring offense to 16 as soon as JG had total control and we were bottom in the league in red-zone scoring with Garrett the majority of his time here.

4. Parcells had nothing to do with Garrett. He was gone by then.

5. The only reason we moved the ball was because of Romo.
