2008 NFL Mock Draft; Not Too Early

Cleveland is going to be better than Tampa, Minnesota, and Seattle?

And we're taking a 6-1, 285 lb guy to play DL in a 34?

Absurd.

:laugh2: I couldn't have said it any better!

No need to ask. By looking at that guy, it is definitely a disease.

The Road Warriors in their glory days were my absolute favorites. Loved it when Iron Man by Black Sabbath used to play and they'd storm the ring from nowhere and just start destroying someone.

Good point out Dayton Cowboy! He used to be one of my favorite tag team members back in the day. His dad use to be a mauler back in the day.

I agree, to me, the cleveland pick will be a top 5 or 6 pick, possibly be a top 3 pick. Then, I see us trying to trade up and get Darren McFadden to be our future RB and star since Emmitt Smith.

With our 2nd # 1 pick, I see us going after a # 1 WR, or a top NT, but I am thinking our 2nd # 1 pick will be from the 24th pick to 32nd pick in the first round. I see us possibly maybe trading back up to get another impact player, or trading down to get some extra picks in 2nd and 3rd round so we can get a few good players.

I am not sure on compensation picks, if they count the year you lose them. As you all probably agree, I think the Cowboys will lose Flozell Adams and get a # 2 or # 3 pick for him. Then, most likely, we will trade Greg Ellis that year too, so that should give us some extra picks too. You might see us even trade our future 2nd # 1 pick away for a future # 1 the following year.

You got to remember, Terrance Newman is 28 I think, and Anthony Henry will be 32 next year. So, in a couple of years, we will need young CBs, so you will need high draft picks to get them. I still think that Courtney Brown whom the Cowboys drafted in the 7th round will be the steal of the NFL draft like Colston was last year for the Saints.

So, this is the way i see the 2008 draft going for us.
Clevelands # 1 pick top 3 pick, use our 3rd rounder to trade up to get McFadden RB

We then trade Greg Ellis with the package pick, trade back up in 1st round and get an impact WR, whom that will be im not sure, guys that I have checked on as WRs are really slow next year in the draft, so have to do some research, but I see us getting a impact WR in 1st round too with Greg Ellis trade to move back up, after he has a monster year this year in Wade Phillips defense.

With our 2nd round pick, we may trade down a little to get extra picks, or i see us taking a NT, with that pick. With our 3rd rounder if we dont use that pick to trade up, we take another linebacker or cornerback due to Anthony Henry age and age of Newmans too.

Then, with our compensation pick for Flozell Adams we take a offensive guard or backup center, most likely a guard.

Then, if Dallas is smart, they will resign Julius Jones, so they can trade him for future picks. I still see this team gearing up in the 2009 draft or 2010 draft to take that Clausen kid QB from Notre Dame, if he pans out like people say he will.

Finally, that would give the Cowboys impact running back like McFadden, impact WR and an impact linebacker or cornerback. Along with the young impact Clausen kid. Kinda like when the Cowboys big 3 were Troy Aikman, Michael Irwin and Emmitt Smith. That would keep the Cowboys in contention for 4 - 5 superbowls in the next 8 years or so.

Dont get me wrong, I like Tony Romo, but one thing about him, sometimes his mind isnt on the game as it is playing, like the snap, in the seattle game. I read where he said he wasnt ready for the snap. I hope that changes, but until it does, then we might be looking for a QB in 2-3 years. And you can never have enough young QBs, remember, we drafted Troy Aikman, then in the supplemental draft we took Walsh QB from Miami that Jimmy Johnson wanted. Then, we traded Walsh to the Saints for a high pick too. So, you never can have enough quality QBs.

Yes...a disease that strikes people predominately located in the Ann Arbor, Michigan area. Symptons may include choking, crying, and involuntary bodily secretions. It appears to be terminal, with no cure in sight.

Thanks for posting it.

Surprised to see Steve Slaton go unmentioned; surprised to see McFadden as the only 1st round RB.

if some underclassmen come out I like the WR crop for '08 much better than this year's

the CB class looks really strong as well

those are 2 positions that I would like to see us target along w/ RB, which will be a really strong class if Steve Slaton declares

McFadden
Slaton
Ray Rice
James Davis

Sorry but this would never happen. To trade up to #1 would take more than a 3rd rounder it might take a current second and future second. Also trading Eliis might get tus a 5th rounder, no way to get back in the first round. And there is no chance of signing Julius to a bonus-less contract, then immediately trading him. Flozell compensetory, I'm not so sure if that is true I think they have to be after their initial contract and not being signed twice (also being drafted by the team as we did with Flozell) in order to receive a compensetory pick.

re you kidding me ?!! DT in 1st ?!! NO WAY !!!!!!!!!!!! we need a YOUNG impact WR ... i like Darren McFadden pick to.

I would be underwhelmed if the Cleveland pick isn't top 10.
That's what I was thinking. I'm willing to to book Cleveland being bottom 3 in the league this year.
And I'm thinking the boys go offense next year with possibly both picks. But you never know, if we're a top 3 pick, we have to go Best Player.

What ever the games need to be played before we start going crazy on stupid mockdrafts now.

Heck guys will get injured in the Pro's and College rank and change peoples draft status etc etc:bang2:

12. Dallas Cowboys (from Cleveland)

The Cleveland pick will be higher than #12

The Dallas pick will be lower than 23.

Gimme a break three times.

I'm sure that pick will be in the top 5 in 2008 by the way. Dallas will be drafting last..;)

two of OT, for the first two picks, renders this, idiotic, and beyond stupid.

I hope for his sake, he tries not drinking before he writes his next article.

:lmao2:

I agree; no way that happens.

Laurinitis to the Eagles? that would suck for us.

I hope Chad Henne goes to the Bears... hasn't the FA learned anything about Michigan and it's system players? (not counting Braylon Edwards that dude is legit) I laugh at whoever picks Manningham and Henne. Joey Galloway is a MUCH better reciever than Manningahm will ever be... (by the way I hate the Buckeyes but I guess you would never know by how much I am slobbering over their players.)

Colt Brennan? :lmao2: :lmao2: Good luck

I'm a USC guy and that is way too early for Sedrick Ellis. Plus, he is too small to play NT in our defense.

Besides, everyone knows our picks in the 2008 draft will be #1 and #32.

#1 will be McFadden and #32 will be...who cares, we just won the Superbowl.

2 OT's as the first 2 picks I see a trade or 2 coming on if they really rated one and two. No way a skill player doesnt go at #1 next year and probably to an NFC team
