I think the most intriguing prospect is Pat White.

If by intriguing you mean another guy that can sit on the bench for 3 years before we even begin to find out whether he's any good, then I agree.

Oh I don't know...maybe we don't need any more conversions, but I see his ability to avoid the initial tackle equating to a lot of yac. He also has decent size and is pretty great in the open field (regardless of position). He may need to sit for a while, but that's true w/ like 75% of WRs coming into the league. The fact that Royal and Jackson's been able to make things look so easy is pretty rare for young WRs.

If he doesn't intrigue Jerry, I'm sure there will be quite a few GMs who will be come draft time.

Now if you want to argue that we need a pure deep threat, than yeah, I'm not sure if White's the best fit.

If you are looking for short, speedy WR's then this will not be the draft that you want to get one. This, however, is an excellent drive for taller WR's that run in the 4.3 range.

Of course, Michael Crabtree from Texas Tech tops the list, thought I think he is more of a 4.4 guy.

Darrius Heyward-Bey from Maryland has some serious 4.3 speed at 6-2.

Then there is Jeremy Maclin from Missouri, at 6-1 and also a low 4.3 guy. A

All three of these guys are first round talents. I would love to get Crabtree, but If not, we should definitely have a chance at Maclin. He also is a Dynamic return specialist that set the freshman NCAA record for all purpose yards. Imagin Maclin and Felix Jones returning kicks....scary. Maclin is probably the fastest WR in the draft and could possibly run a 4.2, so keep an eye on him.

1000 dollars he cant.... Get real..

A guy who is 6'4 and ONLY 215 cant bench 400 pounds. Id give him MAYBE 315. Unless he had the torso of a guy who was 5'11 and a 6'1 wing span. His arms would be too long to bench that much.

And if you believe it , you obviously have never been in a weightroom with guys that push serious weight. High school weight training doesn't count.

Wow if you open that mouth just a little bit more you might be able to put booth feet in. Well there is a number of reports on sites like Scouts.com, rivals.com etc that reports his bench number. I guess those guys have never been out of a high school gym.

if what you say about Maclin is true, I really want him, he could be a better Eddie Royal

Sign Roy Williams and draft Taylor Mays. Problems solved on both sides of the ball.

that means good, right?

It means he's raw.

(actually, that's a bad word choice on a football forum; not the Stanback kind of raw)

Must admit I can't think about the 09 draft cause it's just so far ahead and I want to enjoy this season. Even though we lost in the playoffs, I still really enjoyed seeing our team go from a 9-7 record to 13-3 and a real powerhouse in the NFL. I know many feel it doesn't matter what the Cowboys do until December or January. I feel very different. What's the sense of being a Cowboy fan if you don't enjoy the ride. In fact why even watch any Cowboy game until it's playoff time.

Anyway, I want to see what we get out of our 3 young WRs. Austin made 2 nice catches against the Eagles so I'm hoping we see a lot more of him against the Packers. If he really is the player we saw make so many good catches in the preseason, then maybe he's the answer to our big & speedy WR that we need opposite TO. Admittedly that might be too much to expect from an undrafted FA but heck we got a pro bowl QB going that route. Must admit I am thinking we need to get a really speedy WR like a Glenn or Galloway, etc. Heck, I wanted Royal if he was available in the late 3rd or 4th round.

OTOH, what happens if Burnett or Carpenter isn't the answer as a full time starter in ILB in another year. And what about at SS? Also do we need to draft a really good OT or can McQuistan get the job done or will we resign Colombo who I believe turned 30. We need to start getting our OL younger. Maybe Free should start at RT next year & then move to LT when Flozel is no longer the answer.

Obviously there too many questions which must be addressed before we know what areas we need to address.

Good posts and better questions. I think you have to find a way to keep Colombo. I hope we get a courtesy discount. Not sure you can really tell if a young OL can do the job until you put him in and pressure him to produce. Mop up duty is ok but putting their performance on the line may do more. I'm with you on the WRs although I still think they should be looking for a quality first day WR if one comes along worth the pick.

We need to look at MLB hard. I'm hoping we have two to three years out of Zack but that might be optimistic. I wonder if they have gotten some sort of committment from him although they could certainly wait until before the draft to find out.

And safety particularly SS is a real need on this team. It may be our only significant weakness right now. Look at how Pitts safety raises that team to awesome.
