Hell, I love 88 and he's my favorite Cowboy of all time but Rice is the UNDISPUTED champ at the position! However you measure it -stats, wins, rings- he's done it all! I know he played with HoF Qbs, I know he's played in the WCO his whole career, I know he hasn't played with a RB like E. Smith to take away his touches but he was the best... and this is coming from a man who HATED HIS DAMN GUTS but you had to respect his game...

I've already stated by case about Irvin. I don't think he was better than Rice.

As far as Emmitt, he was a great player. But I don't believe he was a top 5 RB in NFL history. Top 10, yes.

So your assumption is false.
Emmitt is a top 5 back. I don't know how you could say he isn't. If you can give me 5 running backs that you think are honestly better than Emmitt I would like to see it.

This is the list of final 15 candidates.

Tim Brown
Cris Carter
Don Coryell
Roger Craig
Dermonti Dawson
Richard Dent
Russ Grimm
Charles Haley
Rickey Jackson
Cortez Kennedy
John Randle
Andre Reed
Jerry Rice
Shannon Sharpe
Emmitt Smith

Dick LeBeau...Seniors Committee Candidate
Floyd Little...Seniors Committee Candidate

The max number from the top list who can go in is 5. Both Seniors candidates can go in.

I am shocked that Floyd Little is one of the Seniors candidates. I would take Don Perkins over him any day of the week. Maybe if Little gets in it opens a door for Perkins.

LeBeau is known more for his coaching than his playing career, but part of that is because he played opposite Dick "Night Train" Lane. If he makes it, look no further than his 62 career interceptions. He was only a 3 time Pro Bowl player although he probably deserved a 4th for 9 INTs in 1970. If he gets in it might open a door for Everson Walls.

Emmitt Smith and Jerry Rice are no brainers. I think it is a bad year to be a WR and get in. Brown, Carter, and Reed all deserve to be in one day, but not in the same class as Jerry Rice.

I'll say Shannon Sharpe, Dermonti Dawson, and Charles Haley have decent shots this year as well as Don Coryell (though I am not sure he is a HOF Coach).

I think they should have it be Emmitt and Jerry by themselves and have the HOF game be Dallas vs. San Francisco. But that will never happen.

Jerry Rice should be the last speaker. No disrespect to Emmitt, but Jerry was other worldly.
Jerry Rice
Emmitt Smith
Dermontti Dawson
Richard Dent

Dick LeBeau

These would be my votes.
