2011 Packers (15-1) had the worst defense

What? Did the Cowboys sign Aaron Rodgers, get a new coach and GM?

If we signed Aaron Rodgers, we'd likely be headed towards 6-10, given his inability to play defense and even worse play than Romo in the "clutch" that you trolls are so obsessed with.

Not really. Can you imagine Aaron Rodgers with a Dez Bryant? Jesus Christ. The defense could give up 30+ points per game, and our offense would still do enough to win... just like what happened in 2011, where Rodgers won 15 games with the 31st ranked defense in the league.

The better argument would actually be, I would expect us to have won enough games to get into the play-offs and more if we weren't 23rd in the league at capitalizing off of turnovers.

And your right, our defense wasn't the worst ever or the worst even this year. I've said it multiple times that we weren't even ranked last this year and we were top-half in creating TOs. That is definitely far from the worst ever. We did have very bad individual games, which really skewed the numbers, but we also had games like Philadelphia, when all Dallas needed was a win to get into the play-offs and the defense did it's job. Even though Kelly made it easier by abandoning the run.

And the kicker in that is, we actually lost that game by TOs, yet our offense out-performed the Eagles by over 100 yards passing.

You're right. The Saints and Bears game did lower the defense rankings a bit. But really.. the Cowboys defense was far from one of the worst in the league. It was average, and very very good at creating turnovers.

They would go 6-10, book it. There ain't no McCarthy or league's best group of receivers anywhere to be found here. And Rodgers never won 15 games anywhere, unless you are counting his stint in Little League baseball.

You are denial. Leagues best group of receivers? Falcons? Bears? Dez Bryant is better than any receiver on the Packers. And do I have to remind you that Rodgers won a Super Bowl with half the team on the IR? Then you take into account that we play in one of the weakest divisions in football. 6-0 right there.

Btw.. how did the Colts, who gave up 44 points, carried Andrew Luck to that win against the Chiefs again?

I know man, they don't want to hear it though. Stats can be abused a million different ways to "try" and build an argument.
While that's a general truth, the specific point--that the offense's ranking is legit--still stands. And I don't mind opinions to the contrary, but like with anything else, they need to be supported in a way that makes sense. Right now the two most popular ones--that we couldn't score off turnovers, and that we benefited disproportionately from scores off turnovers--are contradictory.

If anybody could make a case that the offense's numbers were skewed, they would have done so long before training camp of the following season was approaching.

So you agree the defense was average? 26th in points allowed, 13th in creating turnovers( we had 28...8-12 had 29 turnovers). I mean, that should stand too. Not awful, not horrible, not the worst in the league.. and definitely not one of the worst ever.

LOL the only thing that needs to be booked, is some people aren't the sharpest knife in the drawer. Really do some of you drink a bit too much before posting? 6-10 classic Romoismo_O

So somehow the best quarterback in the league would do worse than the perennial loser Tony Romo? 4 straight seasons without a winning record.

I'm not sure there's a 'some of you' on this one. Rodgers is a better QB than Romo. At least I'm taking him over anybody else in the league right now.

Measure the defense with a stat that correlates the highest with wins in the NFL, and you'll get a clear picture. Don't take my word for which ones are the best--just find the ones with the highest win correlations. They're not hard to find.

Not for the nonsensical reason you gave, but Rodgers would do better than anybody else I could think of.

LOL, I'll give you credit for throwing in the Andrew Luck reference. You have more of a sense of humor than I would have given you credit for.

I'm not going to trust you to look up points per drive and defensive passer rating, so just to be clear:

Teams with rankings similar to the Cowboys' 2013 defensive rankings in those categories usually average 4-5 wins. Conversely, teams that rank where we did offensively average 11-12 wins.

The set retort to a non-participant would simply be that one was not looking at it correctly...

He's probably referencing the 20 million miles comment.

You know they say Manning, Brady, and to some degree Aaron Rodgers makes their receivers look better than they are. But what do they say to DEFEND ROMO? His receivers make him look Bad!!! Whaaaaaa

How can you book something that can't be proven?

Even better than Romo? You sure about that?
