2012 NBA Playoffs Thread

i REALLY hope the clippers win tonight, not because id rather play one team over the other (although i do prefer the clips) but apparently, for teams that dont start round 2 this weekend they will have back to backs in round 2! I actually believe that would be an advantage FOR the spurs, since our roster is deep and young enough to flourish in that situation compared to the clips and grizz, but i just dont trust the young guys enough to rely on that.

Bynum is a joke. He should wear his hat backwards.

i hope they lose, his comment before game 5 will go down in the pantheon of dumbest comments in sports! along with such classics as Kidd's "we are going to turn this team around, do a full 360" and, who can forget the classic "left hand, right hand, it doesnt matter, im amphibious!" by Charles Shackleford

Who do you think would guard CP3?

probably Parker most of the game, then either leonard or manu in crunch time.

i know john bases his stuff a LOT on stats, but usually pretty accurate! like having the mavs ranked high last year in his rankings and the spurs as the #1 team in 2007 even though the mavs won like 10 more games that season. anyway, music to my and every spurs fans ears! hope he is right

Sup John, who do you actually have winning the title? Why?
John Hollinger (12:25 PM)

Spurs. Because they're better than everybody else.

John (USA)

Bigger threat to San Antonio LAC or MEM
John Hollinger (12:28 PM)

Tough question. Memphis beat San Antonio last year and has shown they can defend the Spurs' stuff much better than most; but the Clippers' pick-and-roll game can give the Spurs trouble and they don't match up well against Blake.
John Hollinger (12:28 PM)

But ultimately I'd say Memphis. The Spurs will just shred the Clippers' defense to pieces, and it's hard for me to imagine a Popovich-VDN battle swinging in LA's favor.

Joe (NY)

You are basing picking the Spurs on them beating a horrible Utah team in the 1st round?? Whether they draw LAC or Mem in round 2 and then OKC or LAL in round 3 it is gonna be alot tougher
John Hollinger (12:33 PM)

I'm picking them based on their going 28-3 in their past 31 games, and winning the season series against every remaining team in the West, with at least one humiliating win against every one of them. Or how about this: They're 22-3 in their past 25 road games. Two of the losses came when they sat their starters. Nobody's beating them.

Joe (NY)

Miami would have the 3 best players in a series against the Spurs. Tough to overcome that even considering Heats lack of depth

John Hollinger (12:43 PM)

Two best, yes. But I'd argue 3, 4 and 5 play for San Antonio, as do 7, 8, 9, 10, 11, and 12. Chalmers could probably be the Spurs' 10th man if he applied himself; he's the fourth-best payer on Miami. That's why I'd take San Antonio.

Nobody lol

someone is going to GUARD him, whether thats successful is a different story. luckily the spurs are the masters at the "let 1 guy kill us while we shut down everyone else and win by 20" strategy

Blake is gonna crush Timmy inside. Timmy cant hang on the post with him.

They have to get by Grizz first and Blake's post game is actually weak outside of dunking.

If Blake tries to take Timmy "inside" Duncan will EAT HIM ALIVE! Blake has the advantage because of athleticism, he would need to do pick and rolls with cp3 at the high post for him to dominate Duncan, inside Duncan is too smart/long/skilled/strong to get dominated or even challenged by Blake.

Besides, Duncan won't guard him, it will most likely be diaw, because he won't play that that close with his back to the basket

clippers playing like CRAP! its obvious CP3 isnt all there! other guys need to step up, or this series is OVAH for the clippers, no way they win game 7

that technical foul on Reggie Evans was the worst call ive seen since the 08 conference finals when fisher hacked berry on the game tying 3
