2012 NBA Playoffs Thread

why do u clowns keep comparing this year to last year. Memphis was a different team last year. They lost Arthur to FA. Aside from Conley, they have no PGs or quality ball handlers.

The Spurs are a different team as well. They got rid of Jefferson and replaced him with Jackson. While Jackson's shot has not been too consistent, he is a much better defender, lockerroom leader, and brings a lot of toughness to the team. They also added Diaw and Mills. While I was not completely sold on Diaw, he has opened my eyes. His versatility, able to guards 4 different positions, is a great asset. He also has chemistry with Jackson and Parker. Mills is a great option for our 3rd PG, behind Parker and Neal. He is instant offense, full throttle speed, and can play pretty good defense.

One other difference.....health. Duncan, Manu, and Gay are all healthy. Gay has been stinking it up in his series, and he is a huge reason why I am so confident the Spurs will roll the Grizzlies. Duncan has played very well on both ends. Manu has struggled with his shot, but he has done a great job with the other facets of his game.

Then there is Parker, he is on a mission this season. The Grizzlies have no answer for him.....NO ANSWER.

If the Clippers actually win, well then Paul will get outplayed yet again by Parker. I am sure the Spurs will have to deal with the flopfest that is the Clippers....I mean they make Vlade's Kings look like complete amateurs. Manu is his best flopping days, would be a mere reserve with this Clippers team....not even he can flop like they can, and he was pretty damn good in his prime.

Still, the Spurs were 2-0 against the Clippers when all players played. The only game the Spurs lost, they sat out Parker and I believe Duncan. It was no coincidence that the game Parker sits, Paul goes off.

I am not worried about either opponent. I am worried about rust in game 1, but if the Spurs are able to fight through it and take game 1.....I honestly believe that they would win the series against either opponent in no more than 5 games.

GO SPURS GO
U spurs fans are over confident.

...and even if those things weren't true, they call 'em fluke upsets for a reason.

I'm not a Spurs fan, but it's pretty obvious Memphis' chances of winning that potential series are poor at best.

Well it's win or stay home for my Lakers tonight. I didn't expect this. I expected a hard fought fix or six at best series, but no way did I expect a seven game series. I gotta give George Karl and the Denver Nuggets a lot of credit. Those guys just don't give up and it goes right back to their coach. Chuck said it best man they take on their coach's personality. Karl's is usually under matched talent wise in the playoffs, but his teams always compete to the finish. If we lose this game I would love for us to somehow fire the clown and hire Karl. He's as good as any head coach in the NBA outside of Pop.

Anyways back to the Lakers some other than Kobe Bryant has to step up offensively. I don't wanna hear any of his idiot haters blaming him for this collapse. Kobe has been incredible once again in the playoffs averaging 31 ppg on 45% all this while playing sick. The supposed twin towers have been playing very soft lately. Pau more so than Bynum. After playing very well in the first four games of the series Pau has played like he did in last year's playoffs when he was AWFUL. He better get his **** together or his days as a Laker are numbered. Now to Bynum. He talked a lot of **** before game 5 saying close out games are easy. What happened? The Lakers got clowned back to back games and now instead of preparing for OKC in the next round we're on the verge of being sent home early. It's time for Bynum to shut his big fat mouth and play like we all know he's capable of playing. Kobe called both of these clowns out yesterday and rightfully so. I'm also glad Shaq called Drew out. You wanna be like all the other great Laker bigs like Shaq himself, Wilt, Kareem, Mikan, etc. then you gotta bring it every night not just once in awhile.

MWP is coming back and as Kobe alluded to he is the only other guy that will compete every single night. We've really missed MWP not only his ferocious defense, but his much improved offensive game and his non stop energy as well.

History is clearly on our side. The Lakers have NEVER lost a game 7 at home in the Kobe Bryant era. We haven't lost a game 7 at home since 1969 when we lost to Bill Russell's Celtics. That was way before my time 25 years before I was born lol. However we cannot rely on that we must come out and play hard and give it our all or the Denver Nuggets will beat us. They aren't afraid of us and rightfully so. These are the type of games as a fan where you really see what your team is made of. Do they wanna fight and continue to try to play for that allusive championship or are they just gonna lay down and quit? We'll find out tonight.

Memphis is a very tough team, but unless Z-Bo can play like he did last season I don't think they can beat the Spurs. Gay is gonna have to go crazy. I do think Memphis could push them to 7 however.

please, the only thing im worried about is the thunder sweeping the lakers and us having to start this series late and not be able to rest between series

OKC isn't sweeping the Lakers or the Nuggets. Whoever wins tonight's game 7 will give OKC all they can handle in the next round.

Why do you  me?

I was watching the NBA before you were a glimmer in your dad's eye... Hell... I am probably older than your dad unless he started late...

Once upon a time, the Mavs didn't exist (believe it or not). I grew up watching the Spurs... George Gervin, Billy Paultz, James Silas, etc... They were from the old ABA... yeah... I was around to see that, too...

You jump on the bandwagon of the Lakers and you want to facepalm me? When I was growing up, Jabbar played for the Bucks... but you probably think he was a career Laker don't you... and yes, I remember when he changed his name from Lew Alcindor...

Spare me your facepalm crap and grow up. 3/4 of your posts aren't even worthy of a facepalm... Save your ******* 17 year old comments for someone else... I have kids older than you... and I CERTAINLY have forgotten more about the NBA than you will EVER know...

Once upon a time before you weren't here (yes, this board existed before you), I explained my whole allegiance to the Spurs and Mavs... so do a little research before you affirm the young fool you are...

Dallas is one of the Spurs biggest rivals. How could a true a Mavs fan root for the Spurs? I just don't get it. It would be like a Cowboys fan rooting for the Eagles, Skins, or Giants because the Cowboys got eliminated. You don't even know me so how could you say I was a bandwagon fan? I think it's you who needs to shut your mouth when you don't even know me. I'm as big a Cowboys fan as there is on this board and Lord knows how much we've struggled in the last decade so don't ****ing tell me I'm a bandwagoner. Back to the Lakers we struggled for 3 years (Well struggled for us lol) after Shaq was traded. Didn't make the playoffs the first year and then bowed out in the 1st round twice in a row. I was still rooting for my team as much as I am now so don't ****ing tell me I'm a bandwagoner.

Both the Lakers and the Nuggets would get taken by the Thunder within 6.

The Lakers and Clippers are done.

i agree with the clippers, even with a healthy paul and griffin i dont think they can beat the grizzle in memphis again. with the lakers, i seriously doubt they lose tonight, but if they do, i will enjoy it mightily!

Blah blah blah... I never said you were a bandwagon Cowboys fan... I said you were a bandwagon Lakers fan. That's the problem with today's youth... no reading comprehension...

The fact that you don't understand me being a Spurs fan as well, shows you are a young and ignorant... and don't bother to look up history... just make a facepalm comment. "God I'll look so cool doing this"... like "cool" things on Facebook and show how much smarter I am than adults... blah blah... you sound like a typical 17 year old. Let me give you some advice...

Move out of your parents house now... while you know everything... move out... get a job... pay your own bills...

You wanted to facepalm me and now I can't retort? Give me a break...

And by the way... I will tell you anything I feel like telling you...

LAL 5.5 over Nugs
Boston 5 over Philly

Im taking Boston tonight.I was thinking Lakers cause they are home but Nuggets may just pull this off. And I for one would love it.

so the spurs/grizzle series will start tuesday with game 1, game 2 will thursday, then game 3 and 4 will be back to backs on saturday and sunday! this is why i wanted that damn clippers/grizz series to end sooner! oh well

i wonder how this will affect the series, i kind of think it might be to our advantage because of our depth. even during the playoffs, we have played 10 or 11 guys, plus we were something like 15-7 when we played the night before during the regular season. cant wait!

wow, the 76ers are actually giving the celtics a game! maybe this series will be interesting after all!

and with that the celtics go on a 6-0 run to start the second half, i shouldnt have talked and jinxed them!

man, this is a close game so far! the nuggets have no shot though, the lakers will eventually pull away

1 point game after the first quarter, the only question is by how much will the lakers win this game!

The league isn't going to let the Lakers get knocked out of the first round two years in a row.
