2012 NBA Playoffs Thread

Nice win by OKC... Durant is one of the most effortless players I've ever seen... amazing talent...

please, the only thing im worried about is the thunder sweeping the lakers and us having to start this series late and not be able to rest between series

welp, this has gone from a complete joke by me to a legitimate concern!

btw, id love to see this change to the NBA...

if you draft a player, trade for him during his first contract or sign him before he gets 3 years of experience, you should be able to sign that player without it affecting your salary cap.

that rule needs a lot of cleaning up, but my basic point is, teams should be rewarded for building through the draft or shrewd free agent signing like the spurs and thunder.

the thunder have ibaka and harden needing extensions soon, and they might not be able to afford both. i think the NBA should give teams the ability to keep all those players without luxury tax hits. the bird rights go part of the way, but i dont think they go far enough.

but then you would have teams like Portland who hoard draft picks and would have like a $10 million cap number because almost their entire team was drafted within a 2-3 year span.....and those monies wouldn't count against the cap.

also, if the NBA did it your way, then the small market teams would definitely suffer. As it is, they struggle, to keep up with the bigger markets....but if they bigger markets were given extra cap space to entice free agents......look out.....the NBA would be down to like 15-16 teams in a matter of a decade or less.

With the way Kupchak's been handling things, you're probably right.

Sources say the Lakers would be willing to trade Bynum for Howard straight up. Though I'm not sure Orlando would go for that one at this point with the way Bynum's been playing.

Lakers shouldn't have traded Odom and they should have retained Shannon Brown. They're pretty much Kobe Bryant's retirement away from being the post-LeBron Cavaliers.

I have a feeling Dwight is gonna go to brooklyn especially if DWILL stays.

What is the latest thinking on where Deron goes? I haven't kept up with it, but I hear Portland might be a contender for him. Ben and Skin even mentioned Indiana, but somehow I don't see him being a Bird kind of guy.

well, i think it would help small market teams, you brought up portland, an example is jermaine oneal. they drafted him, developed him, and when he became good, they couldnt afford him and lost him to the pacers. think of the lakers, their success comes from having some of the greatest centers ever, but they didnt draft them, small market teams did. id just like to encourage teams to be able to keep their own draft picks.

specially if they get swept, there will be some BIG changes coming to the lakers. i wouldnt be surprised if they also made a play for deron williams if he decides to leave the nets. they will go HARD after howard, i just hope some other team offers them something better, im tired of the lakers ALWAYS getting the best big man in the league.

there have been some rumors of him going back to utah also. lots of teams are being thrown around, but ultimately, i think it comes down to the nets and mavs. if the nets win the lottery or acquire howard, i think he stays, if not, he is gonna go to the mavs IMO

Lakers have no money to get DWILL. Thats impossible. Now getting Dwight in a trade thats a good chance. Thats not their problem though. Their problem is no PG and Kome hogs the ball. He always has same amount of points as attempts lol. Lakers bench is god awful too.As soon as Kome and Bynum are out they sink. Sessions is well Sessions lol

looks like kobe is the brad lidge of closers! :laugh2:

We ended up with the better Gasol brother so that trade doesn't bother as much any more. :laugh1:

The Nets traded their lottery pick to get Wallace.

The problem with him going to Indiana is that it is contingent on re signing Hibbert. They wont be able to give him a max once they re sign him I believe.
