Excited to watch Ozil at Arsenal.

I'm also pumped to see Sakho at Liverpool and this other guy Ilori looks good as well. I don't really have a favorite Premier League team but I'm beginning to lean towards Liverpool.
Agreed.

I like Sakho, though most of that is based on playing Fifa to be honest.

The United States will play a friendly against Scotland in Glasgow as the national team prepares for the 2014 World Cup.

"The game against Scotland is crucial for us because we have so few games between now and when we name the roster for the FIFA World Cup," said manager Jurgen Klinsmann. "It's a huge opportunity for the players, and we are excited to play against a team and in a venue that has so much tradition and history in football."

The match will be staged at Hampden Park on Nov. 15. It will be the seventh meeting between the countries, with the US winning their last game 5-1 last year.

Very satisfied with my home team getting a draw against the mighty Juventus in the Champions League. Not that it was really deserved as The Old Lady wasted numerous big chances. But they - Copenhagen - showed some will and fight. Now they are at least not finishing the group with an embarrasing 0 points.

Being in the UCL at all is pretty sweet. The local soccer club(FC Dallas) can't even make the Concacaf version....

But Chelsea is winning the thing so everyone else is booting around for 2nd place:)

Or Maybe not.

Beaten by Everton & becoming the first English team to lose at home to Basle (in 10 attempts).

A defeat by Fulham (on Saturday), followed by being humbled by a League 1 side in the Capital One Cup and Jose won't be the Special one any more ;)

Playing like crap for true. No doubt there.
But the talent and coaching is in place.

They started fairly poorly the season they won the UCL also.

Long season and they're still near locks to qualify out of a soft UCL group.

Should have kept and started Lukaku and be starting Mata but it is what it is.
Rumor is Jose is trying to rest Mata for later in the year.
No idea if that is accurate or not but it makes logical sense given how much the Spaniard has played the past few seasons.

Still expect them to qualify from their CL group, and will no doubt make the top 4 this season in the PL (it's so open this season that any one of a handful of teams could be champions).

As you say, Chelsea have too many good players not to be challenging.

As a Swindon fan I hope they lose on Tuesday night though :)

Well them losing right now wouldn't be shocking sadly.
I love Jose but good grief, the dude thinks Mata deserves to be on the bench and brought in Eto'o when Lukaku is every bit as good and much younger.

He is killing me right now.

Daschoo has to be disappointed.

Moved house so not had internet outwith my phone for a few days, just seen this.
Yeah it's pretty hard to take that we came out both of the first 2 games with nothing to show for it when we could quite easily (maybe getting a bit carried away, perhaps feasibly would have been a better word) have been sitting on four points. The two Ajax games are massive for us, take four points from them and we go in to the home game against Milan knowing a win would give us a real chance of snatching the second qualification spot. Of course we could very easily end up losing both those games as Ajax are also a damn good side.

with the EPL and La Liga kicking off this week, i figured id start this thread for those of us that enjoy soccer, if you dont like soccer and are just coming in here to insult the game and its fans, there is a button at the top of your screen, usually on the left corner, its an arrow pointing to the left, go ahead and click that, please.

anyway, who do you guys like to win the main leagues? the champions league? world cup qualifier surprises? etc

i like city and barca to win their leagues (im a fan of both, so thats no surprise) bayern to win the bundesliga, despite the fact i hate bayern, PSG in france, and i really have no clue in serie A, but ill go with juventus and former city striker tevez.

as for international, i think Mexico might struggle to make the world cup, they will probably make it, but i think it will come down to the last game or 2 of qualifying

I follow the EPL from distance (literally & figuratively) but my team is Tottenham Hotspur. I am shattered to that we lost Gareth Bale but so far (yesterday's loss to West Ham aside) we are covering him well.

This is what we need to find a replacement for. If this is too long to watch just watch the last 2 goals (30 & 31) absolutely stunning!!

Spurs spent all that transfer money wisely.
Always hard to lose a guy as quality as Bale but the team looks to be well positioned as a top 4.

At least they didn't just pocket the money as some clubs do.

"Off to Brazil, Off to Brazil!!!"

Not as heartwearming as 'Dos a Cero' but pretty sweet nonetheless.

Klinnsman has done a great job.
Gonna actually be some good players left off the US side.
Something I wouldn't have said a year ago.

I'm not sure why they haven't locked up Klinsmann up for longer yet.

Most national teams like to keep their options open between world cups but I'd agree in this case if I was US Soccer I'd sign Klinnsman for 5 years right now.
He has been heavily overhauling the youth teams to be more like the German machine.
And he's been able to get the best out of some guys who were often ignored.

It is his work with the youth teams that makes me want him to stick around. That is going to have much more benefit than anything he is doing with the current national team. You are correct and I understand that they like to keep their options open, but I see him as a good option even if they have a poor showing in Brazil next year. The kept Arena and Bradley for several years. I think Klinsmann needs to stick around for at least as long as Bradley and I would sign him so he can have no distractions going into the World Cup.
