2013 NBA playoff thread

I'm so proud of this team. Even in the likelihood that we lose the next two games, we will have taken the defending champs to 7 games! I supposedly all time great team, winners of 27 straight games, taken to the brink by a group of geezers and young pups! If this was 2007 or 2005 we would have ROASTED this heat team in 5 or 6, even without home court. I love Manu and I'm super glad he got one last moment to shine in front of the fans. Tony Parker is most definitely the toughest French person in the history of man kind, and Tim is just a living legend! Props to the spurs! I doubt we win the series but we gave them a hell of a fight, hopefully we shock the world and win one more game!

GO SPURS GO!

Also, Tim Duncan cures baldness!!

Seeing how badly you overrate the Heat I don't see how anyone can take you seriously.

Think the Mavs miss the playoffs again next season? I feel a 10th place finish coming on. Trading away Tyson Chandler. Nowitzki has a bad wheel.

Couldn't even beat out the scrubbed out Lakers coming down the stretch this season. Howard isn't coming to Dallas. :laugh2: if he does.

Good times.
Just because you have one over-the-top Mavs fan doesn't mean you need to bash the team while they're down. Juke is juke. You should know that by now.
It's not like he hides from it.

Almost all of the Mavs fans I know are pulling for the Spurs > the Heat all day, every day.

You think Miami will win the last two games? Maybe Game 6, but definitely not 6 & 7.

no one figured the Spurs would win three so certainly not impossible for them to win but also not impossible for Heat to win the next two.

After the Pacers series and how they couldn't defend bigs off the pnr, thinking that the Spurs didn't have an even shot were just eating the Heat cheese.

The Heat were able to win the ECF when Hill et al started turning the ball over. If they don't get transition points then they either try and force the ball into the post with James or force a whole bunch of jump shots. Spurs half court defense is pretty friggin good.

With the way they have alternated W's as of late (Miami even longer than this series) I don't see it happening. Especially with Pop coaching. I wouldn't say it's definite though, they have the best player in the world on their team and are easily capable of winning two in a row. San Antonio is also capable of winning two in a row and taking it in game 6.

Gotta love the iceman!!

Everyone who was ever involved in the ABA has their favorite crazy ABA stories. What’s your go-to ABA tale?

I remember we used to go into Indiana, and Indiana had this promotion — if you hold Ice under 30, everybody gets free McDonald’s. And let me tell you: Nobody ate on Ice. [Editor’s note: Gervin cackled here, almost like Bill Russell, and it was awesome.]

If the Heat can win tonite, then goin into game 7 they would have a slight edge IMO. But anything can happen. The Heat really have the ability to crank it up when their backs are against the wall so a win tonite means I would put my money on them in game 7. If the Spurs want the trophy they should close it out tonite.

Spurs have an obvious advantage with a game in hand.

They are very well-coached and have the better overall roster.

Miami has the home court and the best overall player.

The main problem I have is the college level of play we've seen. Too many massive runs and a general failure to compete by both sides at times.

Teams are fairly evenly matched but games have been boring because of the big leads.

Bipolar series.

Mavs:
Who knows anything about the Mavs.
They have a 4 player roster right now.
They could tank and win 20 games next year or be right back in the playoffs.
If they don't sign CP3 or Dwight perhaps a tank and top 5 pick makes sense. Top 5 pick plus cash for 2 max guys next year. Who knows.

I think I'd rather be Dallas in a week than either than the Lakers, Celtics, Knicks, Spurs or Heat though.
Question is will Pop and Duncan retire for the Spurs? Will the Heat fire Spoelstra? Will the Heat make enough change to do more than limp along with cast offs and last year of their career guys hanging on for a final run?

Boston has an aging, expensive, yet poor roster.
Lakers see above and add concern over keeping Howard.
Knicks are a good team with expensive parts and just lost their bball IQ guy. What can they do with Amare? How long can Chandler stay healthy? Will Melo ever make a pass?

This NBA is crazy, crazy, crazy!!!!
Teams with talent are generally over the cap but being more than 4m over the cap limits you mightily under the new CBA.

I dont even care one bit about the NBA but I hope the Spurs beat the every loving bejeebus out of the Heat. Talk about a team and fan base that is easy to root against.

Also,

...yes ik they did it with the Spurs too

Lakers are not really in bad shape, as far as contracts go guys. Seriously, I keep saying this but nobody want's to hear it.

:laugh2:

If Kobe comes back, then he comes back. The Lakers can either decided to drop him or not and, it's likely that they could still file for injury exception on Kobe if he can not recover in time. Gasol can be traded right now, today, if the Lakers decided to do so. His contract would also be off the books. World Peace is in his last year of his contract as well. The Lakers have an early termination option on him so they could easily decide to keep him this year and be done next year or they could use their Amnesty Player Exception on any of the three big contracts they currently have.

The only other big contract they really have is Steve Nash for one more year after this one. That's it. after 2014, the Lakers are going to have almost their entire cap available to them if they don't decide to resign Howard or any other FAs before hand.

What do you guys see happening in game 6?

I suspect that San Antonio will close it out tonight. I think the Heat are going to extend themselves so much to try and stop Green and the 3 pt shooting of the Spurs that they will end up getting drummed on the blocks. I think Duncan is going down low and he's going to take advantage of the Heat's front line. I think we could see the Spurs pick and roll Miami to death tonight. I think San Antonio wins it but if they do not, then I think they might lose the entire series. I could it that if Miami somehow won this game, they could be really up for a game 7 in South Beach.

IMO the Spurs best chance to win it is tonite. If it goes to game 7 the Heat would be the favorite.

We'll know in a few hours.

Go MIAMI!

Actually I don't give a damn who wins but as a Mavs fans, it would be heart crushing to see San Antonio/Tim Duncan win another ring.

Absolutely not. I love the Mavs but I've never had any hate for the Spurs. I have much more respect for what they do than Miami. Plus I will always root for Texas.
