Surprise, surprise.

Dallas had 2nd round grades on both the guys they picked.

I'm not a huge fan of the WR pick but people should understand that Dallas is really playing this draft well. They got in front of the WR run and got the one they wanted rather than waiting until 80.

Here you go

JJ WILCOX | Georgia Southern 6000|213 lbs|4SR Cairo, GA (Cairo HS) 2/14/1991 (age 22) #19

(SS) PROJECTION: 4th Round

MEASUREABLES: 6000 | 213 | 31” | 9" | 74 5-8”

COMBINE: 4.57 40-YD DASH | 1.57 10-YD | 17 REPS | 35” V | 10-4 BJ | 7.02 3C | 4.09 SS

STRENGTHS: Good body strength with a workable frame…good play speed doesn’t play hesitant…physical run defender with good take-on strength, working hard to shed and seems to enjoy contact…breaks down well on the move, staying controlled to square up…experienced route runner on offense and shows the natural ability to recognize patterns…natural feel on the field, good timing and awareness…reliable ballskills…versatile experience…smart competitor with strong football make-up.

WEAKNESSES: Not an elite speed athlete…gets in trouble with false steps, allowing WRs to get behind him and trailing the play…needs to keep his shoulders balanced over his feet and stay low in his transition…anticipation and instincts are raw, still learning his keys and recognition skills…needs to put himself in proper position to make plays and needs more reps…not skinny, but room to get stronger…drops his head and throws his shoulder, needs to consistently wrap…only 1 year on defense.

SUMMARY: Was recruited for offense and started at WR as a freshman before moving to running back in 2010, lining up as a slot/wing back…moved to SS on defense as a senior in 2012, finishing second on the team in tackles…team-first guy and showed willingness to change positions…smart and confident with very good football character…still relatively new to safety and needs time to develop for the NFL, but has intriguing upside and should be able to contribute right away on special teams.

These last two picks are garnering positive reviews. See, we're not always pessimistic.

RB? No. WR, Yes.

Weird I read more than one saying RB but yeah that says WR.

Can anybody post a review of this guy?

Strengths: Athletic frame with a thick lower half. Stands out at this level due to his athleticism and proved he deserved to be on the same field with the top prospects in Mobile. Good lateral agility. Surprisingly adept as an open field tackler. Attacks the line of scrimmage when he reads run but while fast to the action, breaks down pretty well, showing enough balance, patience and strength for the effective stop... Showed some instincts and range operating as a single-high safety during Senior Bowl drills. Good leaping ability and body control. Timed his leaps well and has good hand-eye coordination, perhaps due to time on offense. Obvious upside.

Weaknesses: Questionable straight-line speed. Looks like a one-speed player who glides with normal acceleration rather than showing the suddenness to run with NFL wideouts. A work in progress regarding his technique, though in all fairness, this is to be expected... Tends to bend at the waist rather than the knees. Attacks the line of scrimmage as a run defender, slipping by most blocks but too often is tied up when he they do get to him. Tools worthy of developing but isn't ready for prime time yet.

Compares To: Atari Bigby, SS, San Diego Chargers

I've got a lot of questions about the safety position... who the heck are our starters. I hope we aren't counting on Will Allen.

In about two years when this dub fails as a safety, we'll try to move him back to WR like he was 75% of his college career.
