An unnecessary trade down (too far) so that we missed out all our targets.

A huge reach due to panic

A yearly TE search to complement Witten

A local favorite (player from OKla, Baylor, Texas, etc)

A small school athletic freak who has limited experience.

Welcome to 2009 ...sorry, 2013 dallas cowboys' draft

I'm not nearly as excited over Wilcox as Dallas is.

I'd much rather have Phillip Thomas. I don't like guys who are projects. Jerry does though.

I wanted no part of Thomas.

Mayock likes Wilcox, he says will be a starting safety.

My only concern we needed a FS more then a SS.

Thomas might have been better.

True enough, very interesting prospect. I'm liking that one a lot, but there are definitely some questions about how soon he'll be ready for the big show.

He had a good Senior Bowl playing man and zone. He'll be a good STs player this year and will get some snaps in special packages at some point. Not sure he can compete that well this year but should next year as a starter. Good cover skills but he has some catching up to do with only one year as a starting DB.

No offense, but you have no idea what you're talking about. Everyone drafted today was solid value (which is a far, far cry from 2009).

I'll say it - we drafted four eventual starters so far.

I'm not crazy about the Wilcox pick. Only one year of experience at FCS level. Yes, he's a good athlete, and will be a good threat as a kick returner, but if they were looking safety, either of the Thomas' (Phillip or Shamarko) would have provided a more immediate contributor.

What I would have done - DT Brandon Williams - Missouri Southern

How many 5'8" safeties are doing anything in the NFL?

Definition of insanity: doing the same thing over and over and expecting different results.

2nd round TE AGAIN

draft project safety AGAIN

I think Wilcox will be groomed as a FS.

He was a WR and RB before becoming a S, so he understands offense and route running. That should help in his development as a DB. He should also attack the ball in the air like a WR which I really like seeing DBs doing.

Like we have been waiting for a safety for how long and we draft one thats a project? I mean sure he may have good hands since he was a wr but come on..tell me the scouts have seen something spectacular in this guy

I like the pick. I think Wilcox is a football player, period. Just might need to be patient with him and give him a year. In the meantime, he can help us out in the return game and not risk any starters to injury.

Both safeties are FSs really playing either two deep or at times one deep. I don't know how often Kiffin uses a safety in the box. Anyone got an idea?

basically a project at safety

Incorrect, Mayock states Wilcox will be a starter..in short order.

Some development but not a long term project.
