This is the best, most complete Cowboys team I have watched, playoffs not withstanding. But again I have only seen this team win 1 playoff game in my lifetime so you can measure the squads I've seen. That 07 team didnt have the cohesiveness of this team.

very good observation young buck.....you are correct and it isn't even close.

I hate to revisit T.O., but he may have destroyed the chemistry of that team. One player shouldn't be able to do that, but he did cause division in that locker room.

This question was partially inspired by something I saw on the NFL Network but it's something I've been thinking about all season long so I don't consider this question just a copied narrative. If I have vivid memories of the highly successful Cowboys teams of the past, I figure it would be interesting to see what the rest of you remember and even more interesting to compare those teams to what we have blooming now. Jason Garrett is always saying he doesn't like to compare teams but that doesn't keep us as fans from pondering the question. The similarities of this team to the 90's team is no accident. Jason Garrett has been building this team using that blueprint.

I was wrong to say the '95 team was the best I saw. Each team had it's own merit. The '92 team was amazing... they hadn't won anything yet so they didn't know just how good they really were. I think our current team shares that quality. The '93 team was so impressive... they were so good they didn't hide what they were. They had an establish style of play that every team was aware of but those Boys just dared every team to do something about it anyway... no one could. Repeating is so difficult but the '93 team made it look easy. The '95 team was a team recommitted to it's craft after a disappointing exit from the playoffs the year before. The determination of that team inspired me to believe anything is possible.

For those too young to have witnessed the 90's teams, you should be made aware that we had something special then... it was precious and we lost it. The long drought since then is testament to how rare those teams were. It may be too early to give legitimacy to the comparison of our current team to those but there can be no doubt we have something special brewing here today. Greatness is within the team again. I'm going to savor witnessing the rise of this team's prosperity this time.

It's hard when you're younger to have a point of reference to older teams, I get that. Also things seem so much bigger when you're younger and time has a way of assigning greatness that might not have been there. But these were household names that almost all of America watched every single Sunday when all they showed were the Cowboys.

Staubach, Dorsett, Pearson, Billy Joe Dupree, Butch Johnson, Robert Newhouse, Preston Pearson, Tony Hill, Golden Richards, Fitzgerald, Neely, Rafferty, Scott, Wright...

and DOOMSDAY.

2014 is a good team. 1992 was a great team and 1977 was a great team, but to me - the defense makes the difference.

This place is getting out of control lol

Absolutely not... this comparison is ridiculous, just because u saw something on nfl network doesn't mean u should repeat it.

We haven't even won a playoff game, and fans are declaring this the best Cowboys team ever.

Uh, the 92-93 team and the 77 Cowboys team that beat the Broncos in the Super Bowl were the best ever. This team doesn't even come close.

On offense, I think this might be the best Dallas team in a long time. Even the triplets back in the day didn't put points up like this on a weekly basis, of course the rules are a lot different now.

Defense is our Achilles heel......................I don't know if we can outscore the Packers in Lambeau. (I am already counting this game against Detroit as a win;))

That offense wasn't asked too though.
They controlled the game and lead with running game.

Aikman could have put up 35-40 points per game with Emmitt, Irvin, Harper and Novacek if he needed to!

Here is how I see it. 8 players for the 1995 team and 3 players for the 2014 team.

Skill positions
Aikman
> Romo
Emmitt > DeMarco
Johnson > Clutts
Irvin > Bryant
K.Williams < T.Williams
Novacek < Witten

Offensive Line
Tuinei
> Smith
Newton > Leary
Donaldson < Fredrick
Allen > Martin
Williams > Free

No need to compare the defense

you are completely nuts if you think Tui was better than Smith

actually a case can be made that the absolute best Cowboys team was the 71 Squad. You had the HOF players Lilly, Staubach, Hayes, Ditka,Wright, Renfro. You had incredible depth (Forrest Gregg was a BACKUP). You had starters like Howley and Niland and Green and Jordan who BELONG in the HOF.

I'm excited also but I think we might be getting a bit carried away here saying this team is the best in Cowboys history. I've always thought the 92 and 93 teams were arguably the best in NFL history. They were young, talented, and had great depth. They were recent enough to have players whose size and speed could compete with today's players. The old Packers teams or even the 72 Dolphins just didn't have the size and power to compete today.

Stats cannot show the differences between the teams. It is not even close. IMO the 1995 team was the worst of the 3 SB teams.

Exactly...The early 90's teams were much more complete than the current team. AND better coached.

Herb Adderly and Lance Alworth also....Great team at that time, cut above everyone else....good argument for them too.

The best Cowboys team I ever watched was the year they beat Denver in the Super Bowl. What was that, the 77 season? They were a machine.

Note: I don't really remember the team that beat Miami. So I leave that team out.

Loved the 1977 team but the only reason I dont give them the nod as the greatest team is because they could not beat the best team of that decade (Steelers). Even during that season one of their two losses was to the Steelers 28-13.

The 92-93 Cowboys beat the best their was in the NFL at the time (SF) and the AFCs best (Bills).

The current team is missing the top ranked defense that the 95 team had but that's about the only obvious difference Please discuss.

If this team can win 3 consequetive SBs the i would agree that this is a better team! :D

That's a big difference , having top D really helps in playoffs and championship games .

Also the 95 team wasnt considered the best of the 3 SB teams in 90's ( as another poster pointed out ) so let's wait and see .....
