2014 QB Class is STACKED - Cowboys Options

He would look much better if he didn't have such a crappy Oline. Clemson dominated the line of scrimmage

He's never been against good teams. He's a stat compiler vs weaker competition. He'll get a shot in the NFL, but I don't see him as a sure fire 1st rounder or anything.

Well he isn't big(6'1 or so) and doesn't have an elite arm. He is athletic though, and I think he'll show that a lot more this season. That said, I'm a UGA fan, and he probably belongs in the 2nd or 3rd anyways. When Gurley comes out in the draft though, he'll be a top 15 pick. He is a monster.

The more I see David Carr, the more I like him. He has an elite arm and can sling it all over the field. better accuracy than his brother ever did at Fresno. Plus he's a gamer. He's a well-spoken, stand-up guy too which NFL scouts really value these days. I expect him to rise up boards and be not later than a 2nd Round pick if he continues to play like this.

I like Murray out of GA. Not too sold on Boyd as an NFL QB but who knows these days with these hybrid offenses.

Muhast what are you up to these days?

Still working hard! There is a possible promotion ahead of me in the next 3-4 months, so fingers crossed!

I like Murray, and his stock will rise greatly if he can knock off LSU and Fla. It will go even further up if we run the table and beat Bama in the SEC championship(which Im sure most of the country would be excited to watch rematch after last year)

You all make good points. But if there's somebody that Jerry and co fall in love with during the pre-draft process, I wouldn't be surprised if they take some to develop this year. If I had a choice, it'd be Stephen Morris. I think this kid is going to be the real deal (with a couple years of development of course).

Watched YouTube videos on him and wow, he's confident and can make some pretty killer throws. I like his burst when he chooses to run too. Great arm and he shows flashes of some really tight space throws. He seems like a good prospect. You almost hope he falls into the later rounds.

It's always a rocky road to the SEC championship game. GA still has to beat out SC and FL but I suspect they will. Likely one of those three will represent.

Here's hoping for the promotion!

After watching Murray and Mettenberger (sp) yesterday, I would be happy with either one.
I would even put them above McCarron.

Derek Carr is a very interesting player. He's got pretty good mobility and decent size. The last two seasons, he's thrown for 7,700 Yards, completed 65% of his passes, Averages 8.0 YPA, has thrown for 63 TDs against 16 INTs. The interesting thing about him is that he's been playing with a torn ab muscle and a sports hernia that he just had repaired in this last offseason. He is also the younger brother of David Carr. He could be a really interesting option next year.

Derek Carr is having a monster yr now that hes healthy. Guy ate Boise alive 2 weeks ago. He;s not ready to start right away, but Dallas wont be starting anybody for a Couple yrs anyways. I think that was his brothers downfall. He got drafted by houston who wanted him to start right away. Let Carr develope and he'll turn into something

Hey Latin,

How have you been?

Haven't had a chance to see him yet this year but he's the guy I have an eye on. I would really like to see us draft this guy and develop him.

Thank you for the update!

I'm a Baylor fan, capable of romanticized zeal and homerism, but Bryce Petty could well come out early and join this class as well. The 6 '3 240, 22 yr old junior, has a cannon arm, rugged mobility and impressive accuracy.

I been good busy with work, so i havent had time to post alot. How have you been?

Me too. Derek is different from his brother. The guy is more accurate with a bigger arm. And he's mobile. He's been running a deadly game on the goalline this yr. He'll go for a handoff with a fake thats awsome and bootleg out and run it in. Either this guy is stuffing the ball under his jersey or he has some big hands thats hiding that ball. The good thing about Carr is he'll probably end up going in rounds 3-5 because of the league he plays in.

Been doing well. Same with me, just busy with work.

I hope that 3-5 is accurate. That's kind of where I would project him but with a good year, he could end up going higher then that. Guess we'll see.

Take good care Latin.

I'm all for drafting a QB in the 3rd or 4th. Cut Orton to free up some cap space and just have a rookie as the backup. Fales, Mettenberger, Morris, and Carr would be guys I'd be looking at.

boy I am looking at the 2015 and make a trade up an get one of these guys - I mean you trade up to get useless CB

Blake Bortles UCF 6'3 #230
Bryce Petty Baylor 6-2 #230
Blake Bell Oklahoma 6'5 #260

2014

Zach Mettenberger LSU 6'5 #235
Aaron Murray Ala 6'1 #210 a bit short
Derek Carr Fresno State 6'3 #215

David Fales carving up Minnesota.

Big fan of his.

Agree....Fales would be an ideal fit for the way the Cowboys seem to be running there offense. Carr is a favorite of mine, all the intangibles, strong arm and accurate. His brother got shafted by that horrific oline he was exposed to at the start of his career.

Yeah, Green Bay was so dumb for drafting Aaron Rodgers in the 1st round when they had Brett Favre.

different CBA was in place at that time.....the other poster said that under the current CBA it could be problematic capwise to spend a 1st round pick (and the money that goes with it) on a QB you are simply going to stash for 3-4 years. I am not sure if that is a correct evaluation of the cap, but it is what that poster was trying to convey.
