NY is about to fall back into the pack, their offense has hit mid-season form and the injuries are mounting up. They have no power bats with half of the line-up hitting below or near the mendoza line. Wright is on the DL for his first of three stints and Grandy has more walks than hits, heh.

But boy the Mets have some good young pitching.

I hear you on the offense. I wonder if the Mets will swop an arm for a bat... what do you think?

Probably not, they are cheap and won't part with a starter. We have two in AAA who are supposed to be real good coming up. They have had several offers yet passed on them all. I can't say that I blame them, the guys other teams wanted should be untouchable and we can't give away Gee or Niese.

I wish the game would have been on TV tonight........it was practically HR derby out there, 9 HRs..........The Stros added 4 2bs as well. They are just murdering the ball right now.

They have the best record in the AL, and they are 0.5 games behind the Cards for the best record in MLB.

They're way exceeding expectations for this season... They aren't far from having to be acknowledged as being good and a legit playoff contender.

Who is this Gattis guy, a hired HR hitter? Looks like a lumberjack.

I do know who he is BTW

if I am not mistaken, we got him in a trade with the Braves. at first, all he did was strikeout.....but now he is really knocking the snot out of the ball.

another win today, 10 in a row. Up next, the Rangers. If we can sweep them, we will be 21-7 (18-1 since starting 3-6)

Oh yea, part of the Hoyt trade who is sucking it up in AAA, heh.

Well I'm not counting "sweeps" before they happen. LOL!

But really what they're doing is amazing.

They could be short a solid #2 pitcher from having a very good team this season.

Jed getting injured was a tough blow.......but, he should be back after the All-Star break and should deliver a nice spark to the lineup, that hopefully doesn't really need one at the time.

And the Astros reach 25 wins on May 17th.

As of right now the 2nd best record in baseball.

Stunning.

I don't think anyone expected this. Two years from now yeah, but not now.

I was a die hard Astros fan until they moved to the American League. Since I can't root for another team, I have now boycotted baseball. I just cant stand the DH rule not to mention moving from the NL changed all the rivalries. This move sucked and caused baseball and the Astros to lose a fan. As a point of reference, it would be like moving the Cowboys to the the AFC for me and that doesn't even include the beyond idiotic DH rule..

That's unfortunate.

You're missing out on a team that is going to offer its fans one heck of a ride over the next few seasons.

I hate the DH as well, but would never stop becoming a fan of my favorite sport. I just couldn't do it..................

I am not a fan of DH.........but what bugs me more is that the two leagues have different rules. I find it stupid......Either both have the DH or both have pitchers hit. I say put to a vote.....

as far as the move to the AL, I hated it and I still don't like it.....but at least we don't have to deal with those darned Cards anymore, what a thorn in our backsides they were. Plus, we get to have a rivalry with the Rangers, another team I love to hate.

so I have warmed up to it all......plus, we are playing out of our minds right now. I still would like to see one more strong arm in the starting rotation and move the weakest of the starters to the bullpen for long relief. I would like to see us strikeout less, and do a better job of hitting for average. However, right now, we are near the top of the league in Ks, but also SBs and HRs. So even if we are not always getting hits, we are taking it yard and getting on the board. I do not see us being as productive offensively without the DH.

I believe they've been around longer than 41 years. IIRC, they started as the colt .45's around 1962, and changed the name to the Astros three or four years later. That would put them over 50 years old.

Oh yea, baseball is way better watching pitchers flail at pitches while masquerading as hitters. So much purity and strategy with that. Nothing like an automatic out for that extra quality of NL baseball.

Yeah, after I typed that and submitted it, I knew it was wrong but I didn't feel like going back and researching the context on why the medial source gave that particular time frame.
