The one team I have hated the most is still the bane of my existence, even with the Astros moving to the AL. Those darned Cards will not lose. I wish they would just lose one game, while the Astros continue to win, so we can say that we have the best record in the entire league, which I am willing to bet has never happened this late into the season.

The best run organization in baseball :(

Doesn't matter who gets injured or traded, they keep on ticking.......

yep........I hate them with a passion, but they do know how to build and field and quality and successful product for their fan base.

I really thought the passing of Tavares would hurt them quite a bit.....and maybe it has.....maybe they would be a handful of games better......or maybe they are using the death to rally the locker room and bring the group closer.

I thought they would start to slide when LaRussa left.

I believe they've been around longer than 41 years. IIRC, they started as the colt .45's around 1962, and changed the name to the Astros three or four years later. That would put them over 50 years old.

I see where I screwed up the stat. It was the best start ever after 41 games. :)

Oh yea, baseball is way better watching pitchers flail at pitches while masquerading as hitters. So much purity and strategy with that. Nothing like an automatic out for that extra quality of NL baseball.

To each their own. There is much more to it than that. A NL manager has to make decision about whether to pinch hit for a pitcher who is pitching well when the team needs a hit to advance a runner and many more scenarios that play out. Having a guy bat who doesn't even play on the field??? It just seems really silly to me.

Whats silly is having an almost automatic out in the batting order. Pitchers are just awful to watch "attempt" to swing a bat and hit a ball.

And I can say that as a typically conservative, traditionalist, purist kinda guy.

I am a National League guy.....have been my whole life. I hated the American League and their style of play. I always hated the DH, and I loved the strategy that the NL Managers had to employ around their pitchers and so forth. At the same time, I always hated that the NL pitchers, aside from a few, looked like a bunch of un-athletic couch potatoes out their hacking in the wind. It was and still is pathetic watching pitchers try to hit. I think the problem is, in college there is a DH and so the pitchers don't have to hit. They get to the Majors and now they have to hit, and they look quite awful trying to do so. Many of them don't even know how to get into a proper stance or even how to grip the bat, it is comical and sad to watch. So with that being said, I am ok with the DH now. Above all, I am an Astros fan, no matter which league they are in.

My big issue is that the league is divided and it makes no sense to me. Either make both have the DH or both have no DH.......fans love good pitching, good defense, and lots of scoring......the DH will definitely give you lots of scoring. It will keep your pitchers healthier to be what they are, Pitchers. It will have a negative impact on the defense and even the pitching, as you will be replacing an almost automatic out with a top flight hitter.

I still do not understand why pitchers are so bad at hitting. You have a few like Bumgarner and Grienke who can hit but the overwhelming majority look like they have never picked up a bat. I understand that they have not been in the box as much since college but these guys have been playing baseball since they were little kids and started hitting in little league, you would think they would at least know how to swing and they should know how to read a pitch better than anybody.

Pitchers don't get in the cages and practice, they aren't required to do so. They throw bullpen sessions instead. Some over the years took pride in hitting like Mike Hampton but now days, they don't even attempt it. Heck, I wonder if they even practice at bunting.

Yes, they have been playing their whole life but it is a who;e different animal hitting from HS to College to the pros........a curve is nothing in College compared to MLB breakers. If you don't work at it everyday, once in awhile will change nothing.

Nice series by the Astros... Lost the first 2 games at Detroit and then came back to win the final 2 and split the series.

Below are the five highest winning percentages of all minor league organizations:

Highest MiLB win % by org 1 #Astros 62.4% 2 #Twins 57.1% 3 #Pirates 55.5% 4 #Dodgers 55% 5 #Rays 54.3%

And just think Houston has the #2, #5 and the 37th pick of the upcoming draft.

4 game losing streak and the SS position contributing nothing to the offense... The #1 prospect in all of baseball has been summoned to the big club.

Carol Correa... take your place at the table sir!

June 8th, 2015 could be a very big date in the history of this franchise.

BTW... The MLB draft is today and the Astros have picks #2, #5 & #37 which should fortify an already incredibly strong farm system.

Houston isn't messing around, they just called up another top-prospect:

After averaging 104 losses during the past four seasons the Astros have the most wins in the American League and general manager Jeff Luhnow isn’t messing around.

Baseball’s best prospect, 20-year-old shortstop Carlos Correa, has been called up to Houston to make his MLB tonight and the Astros are calling up another top prospect too.

Brian McTaggart of MLB.com reports that they’ve promoted 23-year-old right-hander Vincent Velasquez to the majors from Double-A, where he had a 1.37 ERA and 37 strikeouts in 26 innings.

Looks like Houston will finally end their losing steak.

They shelled "King" Felix in the 1st inning with 8 runs. The first time he's been knocked out in the 1st since 2007.

i wish they would get a better tv deal............san antonio used to have used to have a huge Astros following, especially in stores like wal-mart and academy. now it is all texas rangers, who were always second class citizens down here. it makes me sick. we need the Astros back on tv on a regular basis. we need their gear back in the stores on the level of where the rangers are right now.

they have been struggling the last few weeks. hopefully they can get their act together and finish strong before the break.

GO STROS

Looks like the Astros are getting back into the swing of things. George Springer has been on fire. If the guys at the major league level aren't doing the job, the club doesn't seem to hesitate bringing a youngster up.
