I do think he's slightly off. The 80s/early 90s seemed that way in part because there were fewer teams. No Magic, Heat, Wolves, Hornets, Pelicans. That's 55 less NBA players, which condenses the talent some. If you had 30 teams all throughout the 80s and 90s, I think the talent level would have similar. Guards are quicker today, but most don't shoot as well imo. I think the was a big jump in talent in the 80s, that slightly dipped off in the early 2000s, but I do think in the mid to late 2000s, that talent became comparable.

Gonna throw it out there, shaq and Wilt were the best Cs of all time purely because they were utterly dominant. No two players have ever dominated games the way those two did night in and night out. Shaq in his prime would still be dominant today and would crush Hakeem or jabbar in their primes.
If shaq could've made free throws consistently, he'd probably be the all time leading scorer or close.

Ps I'm only partially serious

You could argue that in 1995, Shaq wasn't in his prime. In his athletic prime, but certainly did not know as much and thus was not as dangerous, but he certainly did not dominate Hakeem in the 1995 finals. And while 2000 was his best season, 1995 was not that far off, but I could never agree Shaq was the best, he allowed himself to get out of shape every offseason, had surgeries late into the offseason, just so he could coast through the regular season. He was great, could have been the greatest, but he never put forth the effort he did in 2000

90's and early 2000's players are way better than the throwup a shot and dont play defense teams they have today ...... most of the "stars" of today would be offensive only specialist in teams back then ........

I blame dirk for the way the so called big men of today play ....... he started this crap of big men playing like 7 foot shooting guards.

One of Jordan's signature moments in a finals game is a massive and blatant offensive foul where he shoved Byron Russell to the ground so he could get an open look...horrible no call since it altered the game and series.

Would been an offensive foul had Russell done it to Jordan even in the waning seconds of a one point game. Just saying, Jordan got all kinds of help

Yeah, this is always an interesting discussion. Wilt couldn't dominate Kareem when they were playing. Shaq was physically massive but even Shaq could not block the sky hook. Shaq could push Kareem out of the blocks to try and take him out of his game but Kareem could shoot that shot 18 feet out with either hand. I don't think it's nearly as cut and dried and Olajuwan gives them all trouble.
