I’m still baffled they took Joseph over Samuel Jr. Asante had better film, better stats, not a problem player, 3 years of elite film. But they saw him only as a slot player so they passed. Still angry about it

Both Quinn and McClay are all about that length

Overall the draft is bust with Micah as the only upside whose shine is going down as well.
All this talk about building through the draft and valuing picks over FA has amounted to pile of trash and tons of dead money due to Jones’s egos. I don’t want to hear brain washed Cowboys fan claiming picks are more valuable than FAs.

1st round: Micah is good but still hasn’t improved run defense the biggest weakness in the defender

2nd round: So far a bust getting burnt with minimum contribution on defense

3rd round: Osa Odighizuwa can’t stop the run and isn’t getting sacks or pressure

3rd round: Chauncey Golston too slow to play DE and too small to play DT has helped given up over 4.0 yards a carry in run defense

3rd round: Nashon Wright another burnt toast that can’t cover

4th round: Jabril Cox besides a dirty hit on Jones hasn’t produced squat on defense and can’t even play special teams.

4th round: Josh Ball aka another Chaez Green turnstile.

5th round: Simi Fehoko special teams player

6th round: Quinton Bohanna often injured and run defense is still trash

6th round: Israel Mukuamu special teams player at best.

7th round: Matt Farniok always injured but decent depth on OL

Nice breakdown. You speak the truth. I keep reading on this forum, and also get a lot of replies where people are saying how Dallas drafts better than every team in the league. I am constantly being told on here how great the drafts have been for the last few years. I hope they all read your informative post here.

It’s insane that they can keep that same mentality after seeing the results in real-life.

It really is insane. I wish I had a nickel for every post Ive read on this forum or every time Ive gotten direct replies telling me how great Dallas has been at drafting lately, lol. They remember the Parsons and Diggs picks but don't seem to remember the Trysten Hill's and many other whiffs. Not sure why. It was nice to see someone like you post the ACTUAL results of one of these supposed great drafts.

Micah is a stud. He wasn't drafted to improve the run defense. He was drafted to pressure the QB. Quinn saw that potential in him. The fact is that he is the best player from the 2021 draft and would easily go #1 or #2 overall in a redraft.

After that, our draft is total garbage. We basically didn't draft a single NFL average player after Micah and it shows up when you have rely on kelvin joseph and Osa for production.

That's my year 2 thought on the draft class.
They gave Quinn the keys to this draft, and got lucky Surtain and Horn were taken before they could pick. Well, maybe Horn being picked as Surtain looks pretty good.
But after round 1 their day 2 guys really haven't shown much to say they can be a key/starter/impact player to date.
Quinn had a lot of say in the draft in Atlanta, and towards the end of his tenure there they had some bad drafts.

And so these players join the ranks of those that did 't make 1st team All Pro their rookie year while setting new NFL records

Other "busts" according to posts about players back in their 2nd seasons:

Noah Brown

Anthony Brown

Dalton Schultz

Dorrance Armstrong

Terrence Steele

Jourdan Lewis

Cooper Rush

Donavon Wilson

The 2021 season was a bust after evaluating the entire group over the course of one and three quarter seasons.

I wonder if it's feasible to use the same time frame on marriages, children, career advancement, education......

"Well, it's obvious after 21 months......Junior is an idiot. He hasn't mastered the English language yet."

"My career is going nowhere. I've been here 21 months and I'm still not the CEO yet."

"Sorry honey, I want a divorce. It's already been 21 months and we still live in an apartment, still drive a used car, and still occupy the same social position."

Both Landry and BP said you need to give a rookie three years unless he is a bust right off the bat.

HOWEVER

Micah has generational talent; but whether he is a generational player is yet to be seen. Inconsistency and getting nicked up too much might mean he is not tough enough for the load
We shall see but as BP said again and again, do not be quick with the anointing oil

Even if he does prove to be great, it will be a case of a diamond surrounded by trash

Those from that draft besides Micah are starting because we are weak at those positions; they are place holders not starters

All they had to do was not whiff on the 2nd rounder and it would’ve been so much better. Need over talent, burns you just about every time.

Ojulari
JOK
Bolton
Samuel

All still in the board and consensus better players by just about every draft analyst out there.
I will disagree with all players listed. Ojulari/JOK were deemed red flag injury prospects, Ojulari has already missed a handful of games. Love Bolton but they weren’t double dipping at the position, where Parsons was considered more off ball. Samuel was given that slot only label but many teams. Agree Joseph was a bad pick, but others had risk involved as well. I actually would if tsken McNeil

I said earlier in the year this would happen - posters saying he was already better than Demarcus Ware (Future HOF). Just unbelievable expectations for any player this early into their career that will lead to disappointment when he's not playing other worldly.

Don't think people really understand how tough it is to sustain the level of play Ware played at for most of his career.
You kidding? Morons don't even understand what a complete stud Ware was. Easily the best pass rusher the Cowboys have ever had, and easily a top 10 all time edge rusher. Can you imagine if he'd actually had talent around him? Dude would've had 35 sacks in a season.

Think the injury stuff was blown out of proportion but that’s just my opinion.

Joseph was the most talented CB in the draft. He was clearly talent over need.

I’m sorry, what? He wasn’t even the most talented CB when we picked…let alone player.

Not even close.
