2024-25 College Football Thread

That would surprise me
Let me explain:
PSU has a run game that's going to give ND problems. That OL and those big RBs are going to rule the game. I don't think the ND offense showed well today and PSU should be able to bottle them up as well as UGA did. If UGA doesn't turn the ball over and hand them a kickoff return for a TD, it's a 10-9 game.

Sorry……I’m not an SEC hater. So try again.

I just enjoy laughing at folks who think “4 Loss Alabama” deserved a spot in the playoffs.

They didn't have 4 losses when they chose the playoff teams. They ranked 11th in the final college football poll. So, if you are going to laugh, at least understand the debate.

This was absolutely a down year for the SEC. Enjoy.

IF IF IF IF IF
That is all the SEC homer has

I would love to see Lane Kiffin in a playoff and I would hate to be the team he gets a month to prepare for.

Bama had that awful loss to Oklahoma that knocked them outta consideration, and rightfully so. Oklahoma was pretty bad this year.

There isn't a coach in college football that gets as much hype for having done so little than Lane Kiffin.

He beat up a depleted Duke team last night who had to play their backup QB who had taken 1 snap all year because their started transferred out.

You can't get smoked with the playoffs on the line against a mediocre OU team. It's just that simple. Bama had two losses and very little margin for error. They blew it up when they got embarrassed by that OU team that promptly lost to Navy in their bowl game.

Same with Ole Miss and their whining. Yes, they had a loss to a pretty decent LSU team on the road but they also lost to a bad UK team. So they too had little margin for error, even with the quality of wins they had, so you can't lose to a mediocre UF team at the end of the year.

People like to contrast those losses with ND having lost to NIU. ND had little margin for error after losing that game and they simply didn't trip up against mediocre teams the rest of the way unlike Ole Miss and Bama. Instead, ND basically throttled every team on the rest of their schedule before the playoffs. If they had lost to say, USC to go with that NIU loss, guess what? They'd have been sitting home too.

Not nearly as funny as people who think there is tougher conference.
cheering for a conference is so befuddling to me,it's unique to SEC "fans". you wont find any Michigan fan cheering for OSU.no Cowboys fan will be cheering for other NFCE teams.

Ehhh, that's a unique situation OSU and UM but yes, there are absolutely BIG fan boys out there.

I'm not arguing Alabama. I'm using them as an example b/c they finished inside the top 12 of the CFP poll. It could have been Ole Miss or Michigan. No where am I saying ND didn't belong.

I'm fine debating but don't put words in my mouth or shoot down arguments I'm not making. When it gets down to the final spots, everyone has losses they regret. I say you look at the big wins not the losses.

Oh whatever man, watch more football. He was doing the same thing for Saban at Alabama winning a national title as the OC. He's made Ole Miss a national power which was previously thought impossible and had never happened. He's the best offensive play caller in college football. A little objectivity required.

You have no cred if its
anything to with the SEC

I didn't say you said ND didn't belong. I even started that sentence with the generic "people like to..........."

You can't ignore losses, especially if you have multiple ones. Should we put Michigan in because they beat OSU who looks like the best team in college football now? Of course not because they had a bunch of losses. Ole Miss and Bama whining is pathetic IMO. Don't lose games to inferior opponents at the end of the year to stack on top of two other losses you both had (and in Ole Miss' case, a 2nd bad loss to UK). I don't care you beat at that point when your third losses come down to the likes of two beaten down programs like UF and OU.

LOL, you saying people need to be objective is kind of funny given your lovefest of the SEC and some other comments you have made in this thread.

And Kiffin is a fine coach. But you act like he's some sort of elite guy, top of the barrel. He's not, hence why the comment no one is more hyped than Kiffin despite having done so little. He's won a Peach Bowl in his career. That's about it.

And again, he lost to a bad UK and UF team this year so I wouldn't exactly call his performance in 2024 great or anything.

So, in your view , It’s more advantageous to play a soft schedule and not beat anyone. Well, heck, why not put Memphis and Army in there ?
