Would not be surprised if Washington with AD and Trae Young ends up about as successful as Brooklyn with aging Paul Pierce and Kevin Garnett.

Lonzo will be a nice role player for someone to get on a contender. T Wolves should be interested.

I could see us being interested. We like those type long, strong defenders. Once the Lavar stuff died diet, the Celtics fanbase has been clamoring for Lonzo for a while

If the Mavs can't get an unprotected 1st rounder for guys like Gafford or Naji or whoever then don't trade them. Klay may be a different story.

Ahh ok so there's at least some cap relief....even though the free agency class doesn't look good but I see some guys who can help.

Where the cap space helps is not so much in free agency, but in helping facilitate deals by absorbing contracts. Nowadays free agent signings are pretty much trades because few teams ever have cap space. So where a rebuilding team with cap space can really build up a war chest is by using cap to absorb deals.

I think everyone they just traded for expires this offseason. Including 34m for Middleton. Dallas will be able to build up a war chest of assets

Who said anything about trading picks? You would be adding picks. You use cap space to take on contracts other teams need to shed in order to make moves. In exchange they send Dallas draft picks

Thats how the NBA works. If you want to shed money, you have to give up draft pics. The Mavs are now in prime position to facilitate that. Teams give up 1st's to move contracts all the time

I’m saying if im the Sixers and I could trade Paul George and a 2nd rounder to get from under it I would. If I’m a team with cap space I wouldn’t do it.

Just curious who has done these trades? Who’s shedding salary just by adding a draft pick? If it’s second rounder yeah I’d rather not take on a deal but I don’t value 2nd rounders or even late 1sts.

I think Finley is a grossly underrated player for the Mavs.

Jason Kidd is one of the best PGs of all time.

I'd have to look closer, which I'm not all that interested in, but Luca doesn't make my top 5. Even in today's NBA, you gotta play some D.

Tarp would have been a beast. He only played 2 full seasons, and then the injuries and suspensions killed his career.

It happens all the time. A teams wants to shed contracts attach pics to them to get teams to take them
