Boy have they screwed that franchise up royally since #23 retired.

Good post! The Spurs are in a good place in terms of team chemistry. No need to do much tweaking with their talented young core other than to continue their development. Depth and injury is always a concern.

I do think they need to upgrade the backup center position. Kornet is a decent backup but they need better IMO.

Their top draft choice could be the answer depending on his growth.
If not maybe they can trade for another rugged vet.

I say this because it seemed whenever the "Alien" needed a breather the opposing team would make a run. I saw this on a regular basis during their run.


One concern I have with the Spurs taking that next step is their young head coach.

I feel like he made some questionable decisions during the finals (game plan and roster)


I don't believe they need an upgrade at this point. Just something to keep an eye on moving forward.


Hopefully he can continue to grow along with the team.

Yeah, Coach Mitch goofed more than once. But hey, Pop did too. I remember when fans wanted to fire Pop at the beginning of his career, and many Playoff losses were thoroughly questioned.

He's a young Coach without much experience who was forced into the role even earlier than expected. It's going to happen. I liked his strategy and lineup adjustments through most of the series, what I felt he lacked was adjustments or quick calls at game-time speed. Like calling a crucial TO. You can tell he's just not as experienced in big time game moments like that.

I don't think you understood my point about the Spurs' need for a better backup. And i never claimed that it was their biggest offseason decision or need. Those are your assumptions not mine.

My main concern is with the head coach and his ability to "make it happen" as you say.
