Wow!! I have been reading the posts on this thread and can't believe this guy! He screams "context", "context", "context, but seriously contradicts himself by ignoring the context of Elliot's situation and overly exaggerating his own arguments...
1) Elliot missed most of the preseason. Played a handful of snaps against Seattle. And you want him to perform like an All-Pro in just his 3rd game since he was a #4 pick. Elliot himself has stated that he was so excited to start the season that he has been rushing to the line, not pressing his leverage, and not waiting for his blocks to develop. In just his 3rd game, he makes some adjustments and bang! he runs for 140 yards! And he is in 2nd place in rushing yards to boot! Yet you IGNORE this context!!
2) You state that RB requires no transition to the NFL and it is just Plug n Play. Then why is Elliot the only rookie RB in the top 5 for rushing yardage. Every other RB on that list is a seasoned vet!! More context for you.!! Do you happen to know where the next rookie RB is listed? Didn't think so. He is at #23 with a paltry 129 rushing yards!! Not so plug n play after all!! Huh!!
3) You state that the Bears defense is just a bunch of scrubs and burger-flippers. Only 3 starters did not play. The rest did. Those other starters included Jerrell Freeman and Willie Young. 2 solid seasoned vet LBs, Tracy Porter, a Superbowl Champion CB, Akiem Hicks, another solid seasoned vet, Leonard Floyd, the #9 overall pick in the draft among other veterans. But you neglected to mention in this in your blind to the facts argument.
4) You want some more context pal: I could go all day. How about the Cowboys telling every team that they are a run first team and going to feed the rock to Elliot. And every team knowing Elliot is going to get the ball 2 out of every 3 carries and loading the box with 7-8-9 players to stop the run and Elliot is STILL 2nd in rushing yardage!!!
5) Did you even bother to check who last year's rookie defensive player of the year was last year? It was Marcus Peters, CB Chiefs. He looked pretty plug n play to me. He was making highlight reel plays from the beginning. Where's Jalen Ramsey? Oh that's right. He had a deflection. Yet you state that CB is definitively a harder position to transition to. Let me clear something up: you have NO expertise in pro football to make such a statement. AND the fact is: every position is a hard position to transition to in the NFL. You expect 1st round picks as high as Elliot and Ramsey to be near the top of their position class given their high pick status. !st round RB's bust as much as 1st round CBs in the NFL. The facts are that Elliot is near the top but Ramsey is NOT!! By the way, Ramsey is averaging about 4 tackles a game with no picks, no passes defensed, no sacks except for that ONE deflection you rambled on about. Meh, looks like a burger flipper to me and that's who you would prefer??!!
As most of the other posters have already pointed out; you have a biased agenda. I don't know what your issue is and I don't care. If you are going to debate the facts and context then present BOTH sides!! I frankly think it's hilarious how ridiculous your argument is and how easy it is to tear apart.
1. RB position. Missing preseason means nothing. Even the coaches stated, and I think I'll go by what they say here more than you, an RB can miss time and return without missing a beat. Nature of the position.
2. What "other RBs" are doing, it really doesn't matter. Other RBs weren't drafted top 5 to play at an elite level. As of right now, Elliott looked below average against the Giants, had one decent run against the Commanders before fumbling twice, and beat up on a low tier Chicago team.
3. Tracy Porter is a run defender now? Haha, dude. Akeim Hicks is a player who has started 3 games in the past 2 years. Not "solid", he's on the level of Jack Crawford in terms of DE play. Floyd is a rookie, why are you bringing him up? THE PROBLEM WAS THE VERY FACT THEY WERE STARTING AND ROTATING ROOKIES INTO THE LINEUP. First round pick =/= quality play
4. "Elliott is still second in rushing yards" - Here we go again
- Giants game he averaged 2 yards a carry
- Washington he barely averaged 4 yards a carry, number shot up due to his one 20 yard run, ended the game with 2 fumbles and got his butt benched
- Beat up on a banged up Chicago defense for 140 yards on 30 carries
As for the "loading the box" - Uh, they loaded the box the first two games, they weren't doing that Sunday Night. In this stacked box look, Elliott averaged below 4 YPC. Glad to know our top 5 pick will need a banged up D and no stacked boxes to produce.
5. Peters winning rookie of the year DOES NOT CHANGE history suddenly. CB is a hard position to transition to, it has been for quite some time. It is, and this is a FACT, harder position to transition to than RB will ever be.
"Where's Jalen Ramsey? Oh that's right. He had a deflection. Yet you state that CB is definitively a harder position to transition to."
Expand upon it more, stop leaving out key parts - He had a deflection late in the game which led to a turnover. He put his team in a position to win. He has also gone up against Rodgers, Rivers, and Flacco.
"you have NO expertise in pro football to make such a statement."
Then go by the coaches, the ones who have stated: You can miss time at the RB position and return like you've never missed the beat. THIS IS COMMON KNOWLEDGE, the RB position is easier to transition to than nearly any other position in the NFL. Please, DO NOT waste my time with nonsense like this. It's tiresome.

It's absolutely absurd to even compare the RB and CB position when it comes to transition. I won't entertain it any longer.
Try again.
