Harper's 70 yarder at San Fran.

James Washington's fumble return in SB 28.

Larry Brown's int. of Favre in the '95 NFC title game to stop the Packers and save the win for the Cowboys. Also his 2nd int in SB 30.

I think there was more than one play in which Allen buried Lloyd, if I recall right, it was predominately 1st quarter. (but that one above is a thing of beauty)

Avoid Lloyd...I think Larry would prefer to do the opposite.

#3 Troy Aikman's play-action, long bomb to "Rocket" Ismail at Joe Roby Stadium (before FedEx Field) to win the game in overtime.

#2 Troy Aikman's quick slant pass to Alvin Harper who ran about 70 yards at Candlestick Park to set the Cowboy's up for the victory, propelling them to their third Super Bowl win in the Rose Bowl.

#1 Emmitt Smith breaking the all time rushing record previously held by the late and great Walter Payton vs. the Seahawks at Texas Stadium.

Man, talk about memory lane. I love it.

Here's a great play. Week 16 (out of 17) vs the eagles back in 1991. Both teams need the win to make the playoffs. K.Martin (Kmart) returns a punt, up the gut, 85yards for a TD. Man, the vet just cleared out because it was all over for the birds. It was Reggie Whites last home game with the birds.

i was wondering if this play would come up or not - it's one of my favorites.

emmitt's "record breaking run" against seattle. i was there w/good seats and friends.

williams intercepting mcnabb for a td to seal a come from behind win.

I don't believe i can narrow down the top three but if i can go out on a limb and choose the best season or seasons rather would be the mid 90's iknow i know you all are sayin hes not much of a fan if he can point out the obivious but i believe that it was then when the cowboys played foot ball in its truest form the love of the game not money:starspin

I don't remember which one you mean, but I do remember in '94 against New Orleans L. A. ran down a Saints player that had either intercepted a pass or picked up a fumble and was running down the sideline with it. I thought that was amazing, that he could do it and would do it, when no one would expect him to, being over 300 pounds.

1. The Catch - this was the biggest play to ever go against Dallas that I can remember.....I hate that clip, makes me want to puke everytime they show it.

2. Tony Dorsett's run

3. Aikman's pass to Harper

1)Harper's slant vs 49ers
2)Cundiff's NFL record tying 6th(?) FG to beat NYG (I was there) on MNF, Parcells 1st win as coach
3)K-Mart's PR touchdown to beat Philly in Philly and secure a playoff berth. This symbolized the beginning of a new sheriff in town for the NFC east, and the rise of a Cowboys dynasty in the make

That's absolutely correct. May I add another important game to go along with that one, that year. When the Cowboys beat Washington in Washington, either the week before or after that Philly game. Alvin Harper caught a TD bomb right before halftime that was needed to win that game. Another big play from that game was the onside kick right after halftime that the Cowboys recovered, those plays stole the momentum from the undefeated Redskids that day. I absolutely think those big plays from those two games began to form the confidence of a dynasty.

I would say the play where Aikman threw a bomb to Ismail in overtime to beat washington in 99' that made it 41-35. That was awesome!!

Staubach to Ron Sellers in December 1972 to complete an amazingly unlikely come from behind playoff win against the John Brodie's 49ers. This was the game that truly established Staubach's role as Captain Comeback. It set the tone for the rest of the 1970's, really.

Zero, was that the play that the receiver caught the ball over his head? That was the 1st play that came to my mind.

-Aikman's bomb to Rocket Ismail opening week at Washington,in OT(1999).
-Quincy Carter's bomb to Rocket Ismail over Champ Bailey at Washington(2001,I think).
-Roy's INT at Philly on Monday night(2005).
-Dantzler's Kick return for TD against SF(2002).

3# 1988 Cleveland Browns vs Dallas Cowboys. 1:38 seconds left, Ruzek kicks a FG that is taken off the board on one of seventeen penalties called on the Cowboys that day. Randy White is called for tripping. Why was that big? Had we tied, the Green Bay Packers get the first pick in the draft and the Detroit Lions get the second. If that penalty is not called, Troy Aikman never becomes a Dallas Cowboy.

Holy crap. That is one play basically making a huge impact on an entire decade. I can't even fathom how an entire decade of success can come down to a little yellow flag. We could be sitting here not having won a Super Bowl since the 70s if not for it.

Not among my top 3...but a big one none the less....

Aikman knocked from the championship game against the Niners at Texas Stadium in 1993.

Recently aquired Bernie 'Diminshing Skills' Kosar comes out, and tosses a TD to Alvin Harper (incredible grab) to seal the deal.

WOW...........

They all are great plays. How special is it to have your team involved in so many great plays and games. Man we are lucky, how great is it to be a "Cowboy Fan".

I remember all the great plays since the mid seventies. I have missed only about 7 or 8 games since I discovered the advent of the Sports Bar in 1988 and then DirecTV. It is a weekly vigil for me in the fall and winter.

Well, here are mine;

1) The Catch! That hurt and hurt big time. Every time I see that play I get sick to my stomach. And to see that Niner team go on to be the team of the 80's.

2) The Slant! Paybacks are a b**ch! The feeling that I got when that play was made, almost made me cry. After 16 hard long years, we where going back home!

3) The Run! Thanksgiving day 1990. Emmitt takes the handoff at the Cowboys 20 yard line. Off tackle to the left side. At the Cowboys 38 yard line Emmitt is faced by a swarm of Commanders. He spins and races down the field for like a 72 yard TD run, leaving 8 Skins in the vicinity to make a tackle. With Troy and Michael already showing their potential, I know at that time that this was a start of something big. I was yelling and telling everyone at my grandmother's house that "WE ARE BACK"!

WOW, was I right!
